MARNIE and MERAUD are physiologically mermaids. however, they have a pearl necklace (similar to elina's) that helps them transform into humans for their classes.

In their human form, iridescent scales adorn their legs that are the color of their mermaid tails: fuschia for MARNIE, and jade green for MERAUD.

unlike most royals, they were able to explore the bounds outside of mermaidia thanks to their parents naturally adventurous spirits, just as long as they told them where they were heading. they were even able to breach the surface of the water by themselves to meet with their "aunt", elina.

even though MERAUD is next in line for the throne, a part of him doesn't want to take over. he would much rather play reckless sports like archery, racing, climbing, etc..

MARNIE is a typical disney princess: she loves talking to animals (sea creatures, mostly), she breaks out into song and dance, and she's eerily happy.

thanks to their extroverted personalities, they're popular among their subjects. the citizens of mermaidia were originally skeptical of a commoner being their queen, but seeing MARNIE and MERAUD interact so freely with them settled their minds and hearts.
