𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐩𝐬 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝐦𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐞𝐤

Freyja Njorddottir will meet the Midgardian team known as the Avengers when her long-standing enemy Loki attempts to take over their planet. She is insistent on taking him down as he had played a part in the destruction of Fólkvangr the field in which fallen warriors roam after death. Loki had intended for this to be a play at his father's attention since now all warriors would go to Valhalla, but he was wrong and instead enlisted a new enemy for life.

This isn't her first time on Earth, however, and she is surprised to see Steven Rogers alive and the same age as he was nearly 70 years prior. During the war, she spent time on Midgard to help guide fallen soldiers into their new afterlife, taking on the identity as head of Operations of Medical for the U.S. Army as she had done for many of Midgard's frequent wars. She had become close friends with the Howling Commandos in the 40's, including James Barnes.

He had spent the majority of their short-lived friendship chasing after her, and she played into the attention as it was her nature as a Goddess of love; what she hadn't intended was to fall for him. When Bucky is seemingly killed she refuses to pass along his soul and instead tries to save him using her power of Seidr. She was able to change the outcome and keep him alive but her access to magic was not powerful enough to choose how he lived. After his capture by HYDRA, Freyja chooses to stay behind on Asgard, which is a cowardly move, but it hurts to see how her meddling in his life caused him to become so broken.

With her immortal duties now taken from her after the destruction of Fólkvangr, she decides to stick around to help protect Midgard just as Thor chose. Not only would she need to prove herself as a friend and atone for her mistakes, but as a hero in a way she's never played before.
