✧ Remembering
Trashed floors. Empty beer bottles. Scrunched up paper. Cigarettes.
Alex Turner sat, a cigarette resting between his lips, the gray smoke dancing in the air in a graceful manner. He was alone in his apartment, resting on the large, luscious leather couch. The leather was picking away and becoming soft from the amount of times his friends had visited. He sat with his back against one of the cushioned arms, his legs up on the couch. He was writing in a little, lined notebook with a black pen he had found somewhere in the house. He was writing down his thoughts, his mind was racing, and he found this as an only escape from the dreadful reality.
He wrote down a mixture of his thoughts and potential lyrics that were in his mind at the moment, to save them for later. He had bad penmanship, his handwriting scribbly, yet understandable and in a way; elegant.
I still can't believe it, though it's been 2 months. I really can't. Miles hasn't messaged me for a while, and I don't want to start a conversation. He still doesn't know about my love for him. I just want to invite everyone over, and then tell them to leave later to pour Miles and I a drink of luxurious red wine before showing eachother how much love we have for eachother in multiple ways, ending up cuddled on the couch together
That's a good idea for a lyric maybe?
"I still can't believe it" referred to the death of one of his fellow bandmates and best friends. Nick O'Malley passed away two months ago quote suddenly and unexpectedly, 6 months before their new album "AM" was meant to release, leaving the band and other people working with them all shocked and very upset.
✧ Two months prior
Alex lay lazily upon his couch along with Matt, who was also a member of the band and Alex's best friend since they were small children. They were humming tunes and discussing other random things with eachother, like Matt's girlfriend, plans for the weekend and plans for the album.
Alex had gone to the kitchen to grab the two a couple more beers, and as he left Matt's phone began to vibrate against the black leather cushions on his friend's settee. He answered when he saw the pixelated name of "JAMIE" calling.
"'Ello?..... mhm...... n'un much, you?..... oh..... fuck... WHAT? How? When...?....... Yeah, I'm at Al's place right now..... okay...... see you soon." Matt slowly lowered his phone from beside his head, turning to see Alex standing in the doorway. Alex had heard the last bit from when Matt had shouted "WHAT" to the man on the other end of the line. Alex stood and waited to see what this was about, when Matt started blabbing. Blabbing and yapping in a voice and speed nobody could understand.
"SLOW THE FUCK DOWN, MATT. What's wrong?" Alex interrupted Matt's endless blabbering. Matt sighed before realising there was no time.
"Just fucking GET IN THE CAR okay? I'll tell you when we're in it, Al. There's NO FUCKING TIME." Matt replied, before leaping over to where Alex stood, grabbing his wrist and bringing him to the door, where the both quickly shoved on their shoes. They made their way down the stairs outside Alex's apartment to the car park, their shoes untied in the dribbling rain. Alex was scared, he didn't know what was happening. He'd given Matt his car keys as he got in the passenger seat, and Matt the driver's.
Just after Alex had pulled the smooth seatbelt around his body, clicking it into the slot on the opposite side, Matt was already pulling out and beginning to talk again.
"It's Nick. He's hurt, like, really bad apparently. I don't really know, I couldn't get the gist of it because Jamie was totally freaking out."
"Sounds like you, literally two minutes ago. Continue, please." He joked with the first part, but he was still scared and curious about what trouble his friend had gotten himself into, and if he would be alright.
