"How do you know she dragged them through and not Jace? He can be impulsive, too." Izzy said.

Alyssa held up two steles that she'd found on the table. "The boys left their steles behind. Jace never goes anywhere without his stele even when he's acting impulsively, and neither does Tony."

"It doesn't matter. We need to help Jace." Alec said, then turned to his father. "You have to get that Portal approved."

"I'll try my best but the Clave..." Robert began to say.

"To hell with the Clave." Alyssa said, cutting the man off angrily. "Jace is in trouble, and he needs our help. I can't reach him through our bond. Something's blocking me, and this time, it isn't Jace."

"I understand. But you're both the acting heads of this institute. Both of you can't go. One of you will have to remain here." Robert said calmly. Alec and Alyssa shared a look, discussing silently who was going to stay.

"Jace is family. You can't expect Alec to abandon his parabatai or Alyssa to abandon her husband and best friend." Izzy said.

"No one is abandoning anybody, Izzy." Alyssa said.

"Dad's right." Alec said. "I need to put the Institute first. But like Alyssa said, nobody's abandoning anyone. We're sending one of our best Shadowhunters to go and rescue them. And Alyssa's going with you."

Izzy nodded, then turned to her father. "Get us a portal to Idris."

"And fast." Alyssa added. "Because if what I know about the lake is true, then we're running out of time." Robert nodded, understanding her urgency.

Idris - Lake Lyn

Izzy and Alyssa stepped out of a portal, landing on the shore of the lake. Alyssa gasped softly, a rush of feelings going through as she fully felt her bond with Jace once again.

"Are you okay?" Izzy asked.

"Yeah. I can feel Jace more clearly now. Come on, he's this way." Alyssa said, leading the way into the woods. The two women walked into the Brocelind Forest, hearing the sounds of wolf snarls in the distance.

Feeling that they were being followed, Izzy turned around, with her blade ready to find that it'd been Jace and Antonio who were behind them. They both looked bedraggled.

"Oh, thank the Angel." Alyssa said, hugging Jace in relief. "You're both okay." She said, pulling back to look at Antonio to confirm that he was also fine.

"I'm guessing you got Jace's message, huh?" Antonio said. Jace showed them a cut in his palm.

"I couldn't reach Lys, so I had to do something to get your attention. Can I use either of your steles?" Jace asked. Alyssa instead pulled his and Antonio's steles from her thigh holster.

"Or you can use yours. What were you thinking, leaving them behind?" She said, scolding both guys.

"Hey, blame Clary. She's the one who dragged us into a portal she miraculously created without any warning." Jace said, both he and Antonio taking their steles from the hybrid. Izzy gave Alyssa a look.

"Looks like you were right, Lyssa. Speaking of, what happened to Clary?" Izzy asked. Jace, while activating his Iratze, shook his head at her question.

"We don't know." Antonio answered. "One minute we were looking for her stele by the lake, the next she was gone."

"Wonderful. Please tell me neither of you drank the lake water?" Alyssa asked.

"No, but Clary did." Jace replied, causing Alyssa to groan slightly as she shared a look with Izzy. "What?" Jace asked, seeing the look they exchanged.
