" why'd you call ? " . His cold voice was like a haunting reminder of the events that took place just a week before .

I missed you .

" dunno' I ... " She slightly hesitates not knowing how to exactly put into words the worries she felt in the time they've distanced . She didn't want to be shut down . She didn't want to take a risk that would cause her bigger consequences than the ones she was already facing .

A scoff , that's all she hears before he starts speaking .

" If you don't have anything important to say don't bother calling f/n . "

The girl wanted to bash her head into a wall listening to how cold his tone sounded .

" Rin I-"

" No . You know f/n , the time spent with you honestly made me realise that you're just as lukewarm as everyone else . "

" What - "

" Not only are you unbelievably clingy , but you also never learn to mind your business , "

The boy continues monotonously , internally facing a turmoil .

" Rin I'm sorry I swear ! "  If the desperation in her voice wasn't clear before it most definitely was now . but she couldn't care , she just wanted him to understand her , to let her speak .

to both of their displeaure that wouldn't happen , he swore it wouldn't , he swore it was better if it didn't .

" You know what those characteristics of yours seem to remind me of ? a dog . A pet that is way too needy and too much a pest ...you're like the kind people get rid of . And if it didn't click in your head that's what this is . "

At this point a broken sob escaped her throat .

His thoughts were like worms uncomfortably crawling under his skin . Berating him from how he was treating her .

And she bawled her eyes out which was then followed by a singular choked sob ...

" Itoshi Rin you are the most mediocre person I have ever met in my entire life . "

He bit his cheek .

" Guess we got a thing in common . "

His nonchalance infuriated her right now .

" Why are you so okay with getting rid of us Rin . I don't understand- "

" y/n , there was never an us . " stop . " I kept you around because of my mom's nagging . " it's not true I always nagged her for us to visit you more often . " But now I'm realising I should have rebelled against her wishes for once . " I would never have . " y/n I detest you with all my heart . "

I love you .

" I hate you Itoshi Rin , I hate you more than anyone ever could have . You make me sick and I hope you're happy because this is the last time you'll ever be hearing from me . "

" Great . "

he responds shortly and dryly .

that's it .

with one final click all he could hear was the three beeps followed by what he expected to be silence , except it wasn't because your cries and soft spoken voice was still ingrained in his thoughts .

Where it'll always be .

𝚎𝚗𝚍 𝚘𝚏 𝚏𝚕𝚊𝚜𝚑𝚋𝚊𝚌𝚔

One earphone plugged in , bag full of notebooks and school supplies , head banging from the unusual amount of excitement her classmates conquered and a bag full of snacks the girl was just on her way home . She couldn't blame her class' excitement , after all who didn't enjoy their summer break . But that didn't stop her head from pounding , neither did the sun or the small amount of protection she had from it . But she knew one thing . When she got home she'll take a long cold shower and nap for the rest of the day . The girl lightly hums at the delightful thought of her plans .
But before that she had a place to visit .
Looking around as she reached a small alleyway she quickly and quietly walked in before anyone could spot her .
the girl's tongue clicked before quietly speaking ,
" pst mitsy ... where are you ? "
she bends down getting the can of cat food out of her bag and opening it with the small pocket knife she carried .
Putting the can down surely but slowly she was able to spot the spoiled feline coming out of her hiding spot and approaching her figure .
" you mean girl ! I always have to bring you something for you to acknowledge me . "
the cat purred in response as if agreeing with her while taking small nips at her well deserved prize .
The girl smiles bending down to pat the cat's head , obtaining a purr back .
however their peaceful time was unpleasantly interrupted by something ... more like someone .
Their steps seemed frantic almost robot like , so in her slightly panicked state the girl picked up the cat hiding behind the large bin in the alley . Mentally cursing herself for forgetting her bag of snacks .
The heavy steps approached and stop . Her heartbeat fastening .
" hey . "
the gruff voice seemed all too familiar .
With a rather loud sigh the person continued ..
however what came out next wasn't a sentence but rather a bunch of tongue clicking noises . what the hell ? she thought .
the cat jumped right from her grip at the familiar noise , which in exchange made the girl want to scream at the empty spot in her lap .
" Mitsy no ! "
before the cat can approach said stranger the girl jumps as a means of stopping her . The last person she expected to see was him . So she stared with the most bewildered and skittish look . In his slightly anxious state from the jumpy stranger his expression matched her's .
And in the most quiet but mostly familiar tone he mutters .
" n/n ? "
and it hits her like a wave . her expression hardens slightly losing its original spark as she analyses his appearance. His eyelashes looked as full as ever and his hair was styled the same way . He almost looked too pretty . Almost .
Moving her gaze from him she notices the same branded can of cat food she bought .

Oh . 

as his expression finally settles he stares at her . The first thing he notices is that she's as pretty as ever . No , even better , even prettier . he missed her more than anything . all he wanted was to hug her and never let her go again. " Fuck ". He mutters out loud mistakenly .
The next thing he knows she shoves past him after saying a small goodbye to the cat . the cat . and taking the bag that he had briefly seen on the floor while approaching the alley.

The only thing he can do is watch her hurried figure walk off . his initial trance was stopped by the cat which was meowing at his feet . He looked down staring at her . " So your name's mitsy huh ? " Before he can continue anything he's yet again distracted by someone jumping on his back . " There you are Rin ! We've been looking everywhere for you silly goose ! "
" Get off me you lukewarm piss haired bastard . "
With an exasperated sigh he adjusts his stance trying to push the boy off him harshly only getting a giggle back in response . Today was just the greatest .
