If only I knew

Chapter Twenty-three

"I'm still okay.."

"I'm hungry."

I think he said that so that we can eat first.

So we started unpacking the food.

There's noodles, soup, vegetables, fried eggs, meat, really a feast.

As we started eating, I told him.

"No."

He looked at me confused. "What no?"

"Your second song. My answer is no."

He was still confused as he tried to process it.

Then he got it, and he laughed. He laughed hard until he choked. I quickly went to get him a glass of water and pat his back.

"Jeez.. are you okay?"

"Haha - ya.." he patted his own chest.

I sat back down.

"I get it now."

I looked at him.

Then he said, "I love you."

"That was random..." I muttered.

"I don't need anyone else to tell you I love you, that I care about you more than anything else in this world."

I nearly wanted to say, how about your parents, your dogs, your job..? But I know he's saying it figuratively, can't tease him on that. It's very sensitive.

I smiled instead.

He looked at me with a raised eyebrow.

"What..?" I asked him back.

"I just said the most important three words."

"Haha," I laughed. "Fine, I love you too."

He rolled his eyes. "Not sincere at all."

"Haha -"

We didn't finish all the food of course. And it felt such a waste to throw them away so I told him to keep it inside the fridge and I'll heat up and eat it tomorrow.

I went back to watching TV. He sat with me for a while before he went for his shower.

When he came out, his hair was wet.

"Are you not going to dry your hair?" I asked him.

"I'm waiting for you to dry it for me," he said cheekily.

"Jeez... come on!" I got up and went into his room.

He sat down when I stood drying his hair.

When it was dry enough, I switched off the hair dryer.

He hugged me around the waist, surprised me.

Then he leaned his head on my abdominal. It's so natural that I didn't think about his head on my chest.

I patted his head gently.

"I mean what I said.." he said softly.

"Hmph?"

"I love you. So much that sometimes it hurts. And eventually one day, I want to marry you.."

"That is still a long way.. we've only been together for less than a month.." I told him.

"I am a person who plans very way ahead.. I know we've only started, but somehow.."

I know what he meant. It's just you feel it in your guts that this is the person you want to spend your life with. But this was just the beginning. I haven't even go home. That will be the real challenge, the distance. Our trust for each other haven't been tested yet.

"I know.." I replied him softly.

We stayed in this position for some time.

And finally, I said, "I love you too."

He hugged me tighter.

"What time do you have to go to work tomorrow?"

"Six. By default, because I have to go to the salon."

"Oh.."

"What are you going to do tomorrow?"

"Good question.."

He chuckled softly as he lets go. And I went to keep the hair dryer.

He stood up and waited for me, took my hand as we walked to the bed.

"Are we going to bed now?" he asked.

I look at the time, it was just past ten. He should. But it's still early for me.

"I'm going to watch some TV.."

He came with me.

We watched some drama, apparently one of the latest.

"That's Zhou Ye!" I exclaimed when a drama trailer came up.

He chuckled.

"You guys had a drama together."

"Yea.."

"How was it like to kiss her?" I asked him.

"Jeez.." he groaned. "Do you seriously want to know?"

I chuckled. "Just curious."

"It is just work. I don't think further than that. And you shouldn't too. It's part of my job.." Then he leaned in and gave me a deep kiss. "I only enjoy kissing you." He kissed me again.

I chuckled again.

"Have you watched it.. though?"

"Watch what?"

"The drama..."

"That one with you and Zhou Ye..? Yup.. the kiss was quite intense though," I teased.

"You want to see an intense kiss?" he challenged and he kissed me intensely. I was taken aback by the sudden kiss with no reaction time.

Somehow, slowly, my hands moved to his back, so did his.

It got so intense that I fear..

He pulled away first. Breathless and breathing hard. Eyes clouded.

"I guess that was..." he said breathlessly.

"Yes..." I whispered back. We were both adults. I think if he would have gone there, I would have let him. Though I have never done it before. I wonder if he had..

Both of us didn't say anything. We just cuddled and watched TV. I guess it is something even more difficult to speak about than those three important words.
