Emily had often complained to you about meeting up with groups, and going to parties, as big crowds usually weren't her thing. You could fully relate to this, making it even more clear to you how perfect this friendship was. "Okay, just text me how late you're picking me up. I'm not driving." You immediately decided, already looking forward to drowning your thoughts out with a little -- or a lot of -- alcohol.

"You are Godsent. See you tonight." The brunette smiled at you and waved, which you reciprocated before saying your goodbye. "Bye, bye." You hung up the phone with a new feeling of dread, but as you remembered the look on your best friend's face, you knew you what you were doing this for.

A few minutes later you received a text with all the details, noticing how you still had a few hours before you had to do anything in order to prepare for this birthday party. You made a mental note of what outfit you were going to wear, and layed back down on your bed, opening TikTok again.

Even though you didn't have any public social media accounts, you still owned a burner TikTok account to both stalk people with, and to watch videos. A life without social media was still far out of reach for you, as your screen time had managed to pile up quite a bit in the past few weeks.

Before you knew it, you were standing in front of the mirror, a brush in your hand as you attempted to create the look you had found on pinterest. It didn't take long before you called it quits, giving in to your lack of talent when it came to makeup.

"So who's going to be there?" You asked as your eyes were fixated on the road ahead of you, the cold breeze filling the car as one of the windows was left slightly opened. The evil grin appeared on Emily's face again as she slightly turned to look at you.

Even though you knew exactly what she was thinking about, you still acted obivious to it. "What?" You shrugged, pretending to be surprised by her expression. "Bella will be there." Is all she said before focusing on the road again. You let out another annoyed sound before going back to whatever you were daydreaming about.

The fact that Bella was going to be there, scared you slightly as you were afraid of embarrassing yourself, or letting something slip. As Bella said before, it wasn't worth telling Emily about what had happened between the two of you before. You couldn't help but wonder whether they would try to make conversation again, or if they would keep their mouth shut the whole night.

A part of you was hoping for the first option, but you were not fully sure as to why. You shook the thoughts off as you felt the car park, meaning you had arrived at the party. Emily caught your attention as she let out a long sigh, visibly dreading the night that was about to come. "You'll be fine." You reassured her before getting out of the car, being met with a cold night breeze.

Even though it was only eight o'clock, the sun had already set, leaving the sky with nothing but a million little stars. You felt your best friend tug at your sleeve, as you were absentmindedly daydreaming once again. You remained a few feet behind her as you entered the building. To none of your surprise, it was another apartment complex.

You couldn't help but feel nervous, as tonight's party was going to be filled with people you had never seen before, most likely leading to interactions you didn't want to have. Forced small talk was one of your least favourite things ever, causing you to make a mental note to stick with Emily the whole night. You figured she wouldn't mind, as she was the one to invite you to the party last minute.

After a few minutes of walking past crowds, the dark-haired girl came to a stop. She shook hands with the person in front of her, giving him a quick hug before pulling away to introduce the young man to you. "This is Sam, the birthday boy." Emily smiled at you while gesturing towards the young man next to her.
