"Thank you." I whispered.
"What for?" He replied in a whisper.
"For not letting me fall on my face." I smiled a little as i looked to him.
"Well, i got an excuse to get a closer look at your face." He whispered, looking out onto the horizon. The water lapped quietly at our feet as i blushed at his words. We sat quietly in the moment. I searched his face. It was calm as though he were deep in thought. His features were sharp. His hooked nose came to a handsome point, his cheekbones and jawline were sharp as well. He had very nice features. His silver eyes were almost white in the moonlight. Julian turned to me, smiling a bit. It looked more like one of Asra's devilish smirks. Before i could speak, Julian ran at me, grabbing my legs and hefting me up and over his shoulder as he ran down the shoreline.
"Julian! What the-!" I called, hitting his back as he ran, kicking up salt water.
"Nope!" He yelled, holding my legs tight against his hoodie. I could just see Asra shaking his head at the scene. Julian laughed, pausing a moment.
"River! Look!" Julian pointed out at the sea. I pushed up on his back to get a better look. I could just barely make out the dolphin silhouettes jumping in the moonlight.
"Oh, wow." i sighed. Julian sat me down and silently asked if i was okay. I nodded to him, laughing a bit. It was nice. The beach, the calming ocean lapping at the sandy shore and the new friend i had. I knew i could call him a friend. He was friendly with me, cared enough it seemed. Asra trusted him, that was big too. I trust Asra with my life. He wouldn't leave me astray, would he? Julian let out a sigh, he was still watching the waves. He had a look in his silver eyes. It was like he longed for something, he longed for something out there, out on the ocean.
"Julian?" i asked, looking up at him.
"Mm?" he hummed, not looking at me nor removing his eyes from the glittering ocean.
"Do you miss something?" I asked, following his gaze to the moon, breaking and reforming on the black crystal water.
"No, why do you ask?" Julian's voice became soft, almost a whisper.
"You look like you miss something." I stated, my voice matching his whisper. He chuckled softly, running a hand through his hair.
"No, i don't miss anything. I have dreamed of sailing around the world. You know, like in those old pirate stories? Pirates of the Caribbean? Things like that. Seeing if there really is lost treasure, meeting new people, seeing new worlds and places. You know, the works." He chuckled again, laughing at his own dream. I didn't think it was silly. I mean, i wish that dragons were visible to us, like in How to Train your Dragon. I still wished that one day, we'd find where all the dragons had gone. That they'd return to the modern world with us. I hadn't told anyone about that wish since i was in elementary school. Well, i had mistakenly told Asra about it after a few drinks. He won't let me live it down but, neither of us complain about it.
"Well, Julian, i don't blame you." I said, moving to his other side to start walking towards Asra. Julian furrowed his brows and turned to me, confused.
"Why do you think i'm here?" I asked.
"To teach? Run a shop?" He guessed, crossing his arms over his chest.
"Well, yes, but I wanted an escape. I wanted a change." I said, crossing my hands over my chest and shivering. Julian took a moment to watch me. He turned and took off his hoodie, handing it to me.
"Did you even think to bring a jacket?" He asked, snickering at me. I pushed his hoodie into his chest.
"It's yours, i'm not going to wear it." i said.
