03: Bash and Declan

She had wondered which one of their parents they resembled the most.

Adellai could now hear two sets of footsteps making their down to the dining area. Oh boy. It's happening. And she can't run away.

She lifted her head towards the staircase and saw an older version of Cameron make his way towards the dining table but before she could observe him further, her eyes were met with Sebastians.

Sebastian was a tall man. She wasn't surprised considering her own mother was a 6ft tall woman. What was surprising though, was the uncanny resemblance. The strong bone structure, the funnel nose, the big almond shaped eyes, full lips and dark skin. The only difference between the two was that while her mom usually kept her 4a curls in goddess braids, her brothers hair looks like Duke Hastings hair from the bridgerton series.

She hadn't seen Bridgerton but her mom would let her stay with her for a few minutes during the family friendly parts.

Adellais eyes swelled with tears which she swiftly blinked away. She caught herself before she called out 'mom'. That would've been embarrassing.

"Adellai! So wonderful to finally meet you!" Declan smiled brightly as he sat next to Oliver and Levi at the head of the table "We apologize for being late darling, we got a little held back at work"

She tore her gaze away from Sebastian "It's nice to meet you too and its no problem" She looked at Declan and was surprised to see the pleasant look ehich drastically differed to Sebastian passive expression.

"It's lovely to finally meet you Adellai. I trust the boys didn't give you any trouble when you were settling in" Sebastian said, giving a pointed look to Oliver. The latter rolled his eyes and grumbled.

She shook her head "They were very welcoming" She replied, to which Levi snorted and recieved an elbow jab from Cameron and a kick in the ankles from Oliver. "Ow! Hey!" He retaliated by jabbing Cameron with his elbow harder and kicking Oliver in the privates from under the table. While Cameron and Levi kept throwing light punches at eachother, Oliver fell to the ground and was curled in the fetal position.

Adellais eyes widened as she looked at Oliver in the ground "Boys! Behave!" Declan scolded "Adellai i'm so sorry! i would be lying if I said they aren't usually like this" He gave her an apologetic expression. She shook her head and softly said "its fine" After all it was their house, they should act as freely as they want. She was the intruder here.

She glanced at Sebastian to see him shaking his head and rubbing the bridge of his nose. "He's the one whoe kicked me in the balls!" Oliver exclaimed as he took his place back on the seat, grunting in what she assumed was pain but she could honestly not tell. "I wouldn't have kicked you in the balls if you didn't kick me in the ankles!" Levi gave rolled his eyes grabbing his shoulder where Cameron had hit him "Well you were being a dick, but then again that isn't exactly surprising" Cameron said dryly, rubbing hid cheeks where Levi had shoved him.

"You better shut it or i'll kick you in the balls next" Levi gave him a pointed look. "For the love if God can we please stop talking about balls at the dinner table and eat food like a normal family." Declan sighed.

Family.

Oliver to this as a cue to annoy his okder brother "Balls, balls, balls, balls, balls, balls, baaaaaallss-uh" He leaned towards Declan.

Calling them family didn't feel right.

She looked at this exchange if words and glanced back at her brother. Adellai was surprised to find him intently staring back at him. Her eyes widened and she suddenly found maintaining prolonged periods of eye contact, difficult. Despite winning countless staring contests with Oscar. She shifted her gaze to her plate, just wanting this retched day to be over.
