I sighed as I sat on my bed scrolling through some videos. As my phone buzzed, I noticed it was a message. I notice is was my best friend Stella. She messages me if I would like to go to the beach. It was about 80 degrees outside a nice say to go to the beach. I text her back; sure I'll be there soon. I walk to my dad's room and knock. "Come in Potato" my dad calls out to me. "Hey dad" I said. "Can I go to the beach with Stella?" I continued on. "Hm, sure just be back before dinner" he replied. "Thanks dad! You're the best" I smile as I walk to go get by beach towel, bathing suit, sunscreen, and my sunglasses. I quickly change and slide on my flip flops. I then open the front door and leave. Knowing full well where to meet her, I headed there. That weird tree on Goodnight trail. I chuckle as I see Stella hanging upside down from the tree. "Hey girl you ready?" Stella says with a grin. "Yeah, but lets go get some water first" I said knowing we'll be out there all day. We approach the vending machine. I pull out a one dollar bill from my wallet and I slide it into the money slot. Knowing well that it didn't work I flattened out the dollar. Them machine took the bill and then I pressed the required buttons. It soon dispensed the bottle of water. I grab it and stepped aside. Stella approached and got a Coke . We then walked to the beach. We walked around finding a secluded spot behind some rocks. We set up our beach towels there. I sat down and sunbathed for awhile. I needed it bad because my skin was so pale I looked like a ghost! I put some music on and I put in my airpods. Noticing Stella run off with some other people I shrugged. I noticed she was heading to the volley ball net with a group of people who seemed around our age. I watched Stella play volley ball from afar making sure she was safe.
Noticing floating in the water I get up to check it out. It kinda looked like a human. I went out and got into the water. Once the water was up to my knees I saw it clearly. It was a person. I called out to the person as they just floated. Frustrated I go closer. That's when I could see their face. It was scary. Eyes wide open and cloudy. The face was blue. Scared I screamed and ran back to shore. Stella heard and came to my aid. I ran into her arms. As other people gathered I struggled to get the words out. "T-There's a body.... A dead one" I say shuddering. A dude in the crowd called 911. I couldn't believe this was happening. Why today? Who is this person? Why are they dead? Was this an accident? Questions spiraled my mind. My heart as jumping out of my chest and I my arm hair stood on end. The longer I waited the more paranoid I got. It felt like hours go by. The whole group got tensed really quickly. If I had to guess the cops might of think that this was a hoax and we were all drunk. I pulled out my phone and called 911. I told them my location and everything. The man in the crowd never gave the operator the address. After a few minutes the cops arrived.
Everyone was talking all at once it was scary. The cops questioned everyone who was at the beach. They took me and Stella in for questioning since I was the one who found it. Stella refused to leave my side so they brought her with them. They called my dad and her parents as soon as they could and told them to come to the police station. Then Stella came with me as they brought be into the interrogation room. They kept asking questing which all seemed like a blur or a static of noise. I heard a cop saying it will be okay, she's just traumatized. It seemed that the interrogator was getting no where with me and asked Stacy what happened. " Well, I was playing volley ball with this group of kids and then I heard Camry scream. I came to see the commotion and she was stuttering and shaking when I found her. I ask what happened and she said 'There's a body and it's a dead one' is she going to be okay." Stella said as she hugged me. They told us that our parents were her. Stella told her parents that she was staying at my place because of what happened. I stared at the floor as my dad asked a concerning amount of questions. They explained that there will be an autopsy done and see who it is. My hands shook as Stella came over and told my dad what happened. He looked concerned he said something but it sounded like stadic. We exited the police station. We then all climbed in the car and drove home. My heart was pounding as I couldn't help the who situation seemed unnatural. It scared me. I couldn't help but to think of who was this person. And why were their life taken. I'm not sure if she drowned or if someone killed her. All I could pray for is for they're family to be okay. My eyes continues to star at the road up ahead. The windows were down as cold air blew in. As we finally reach my house I stumble inside and to my room. I grabbed one of my stuff animals and hugged it. I could hear my dad talking on the phone with my mom. They really never talk unless it's something important. Which in they're case this situation. I couldn't help but think about the suffering this woman went through. It sounded unreal on how she died and how she was just floating there.
