The Only Exception

Start from the beginning

I knew that Dong-hae made her feel comfortable and I hoped that she would accept his invitation, who knows, seeing the greatness that he had achieved, she wouldn't be excited to do the same?

My guests began to arrive, some musicians, Brandon's producers, and Min-ji. Speaking of her, the woman still didn't seem to have accepted the fact that I wasn't interested in her. I was honest when we talked and made it clear that she was an incredible woman, but that the two of us hadn't really hit it off.

Two huge egos clashing was what it looked like.

Min-ji was wearing a very short dress in a light brown color, her hair was just above her shoulders and the strands were slightly wavy. Her make-up wasn't extravagant because she didn't need it, but I couldn't deny how fucking beautiful this woman was.

- Good evening Miss Manoban. - she said, teasing me with such casualness.

- We're not at Min-ji's record label. - I said, extending my hand towards her, but she ignored it and pulled me into a quick hug. Then she kissed my cheek.

- I know, sweetheart.

I saw Jennie walk through the door and smiled with relief, at least one person I could be myself around.

My best friend was wearing a red outfit, a strappy blouse in a flannel cloth with a skirt that was above her knees.

- You've finally arrived. - I spoke quietly, hearing her laugh, and walked with Jennie closer to the stage, as the other guests chatted excitedly with glasses of champagne in hand.

- Is Min-ji bothering you again? - Jennie grabbed a glass of booze too, I chose not to drink anything that night.

- She acts as if I said yes to her, completely ignoring the fact that I dismissed her.

- You look like Rose. - I stared at Jennie, wanting to fly into her neck.

- I let it go, as nice as it was, she's right, there's no way we could have worked out.

- You both take everything too seriously, come on, you're a beautiful, experienced woman, Rose is a beautiful, inexperienced young woman, you could teach her a lot. - Jennie didn't have any size, but she managed to put me off.

- The only thing I want to teach her is how to be an artist, but that's becoming less and less possible every day.

- Is she coming? - Jennie looked around, noticing that she hadn't arrived.

- If she does, she'll arrive with Dong-hae.

- They've gotten very close, haven't they," I nodded. - Be careful Lisa, he's a good competitor.

- Look, I give up on you. - I said, leaving Jennie alone and going over to the snack stand, maybe I needed a drink that night.

I picked up a glass of champagne and took two sips in one go, I didn't want to feel so frustrated.

When I looked at the door I saw Dong-hae walking through it excitedly, receiving applause from everyone and I only didn't do the same because I was standing still waiting for someone else to walk through too, so Dong-hae waited until Rose walked through the door.

It looked like I had let out all the air I didn't even know I was holding in. She was wearing a green dress, the fabric was very thin and made a perfect contrast with the color of her skin. It went halfway down her legs and she was wearing white sneakers with some green details.

Her pretty pink hair was loose with slight waves, it looked lighter. It really felt like I was seeing her for the first time, everyone there was staring at her in surprise. I was the only one who knew about the invitation, it was a private meeting but I knew Dong-hae wouldn't mind.
