" Draco! Y/N! " The platinum haired father called from his office located downstairs. His voice seemed to carry an edge of frustration, a tone that sent a subtle wave of unease through the two children upstairs, who had been playing in the warmth of their room.

" What did you do this time? " The older sister said to her little brother, who puffed up his chest crossing his arms, his face scrunched up in protest.

" Nothing! I swear! " Draco said defensively, they both exchanged worried looks and walked downstairs to their father's office.

Y/N and Draco stood infront of their father's office door, a dark oak. Her hand hesitated on the handle for a moment before she knocked softly on the door.

" Enter. "

Her fingers curled around the silver doorknob and turned it with a soft click. The door cracked open, revealing a room she knew all too well. Despite the darkness of the study-the heavy, gothic victorian furniture, the shadows clinging onto the walls-there was a strong familiarity to it. Y/N remembered being small, sitting on her father's lap while he worked.

Now she and Draco stood side by side as they entered their father's domain. The large dark wooden desk loomed before the children, covered in books, papers and half-finished parchments. Lucius Malfoy himself-their father- sat behind it. His long platinum hair perfectly sat on his shoulders, his eyes narrowed at his children.

" Something is missing from my office... any guesses what it is? " Lucius said in a tone that was cold like the room itself. His voice, stern and unwavering, making both children freeze in place.

Y/N's stomach twisted, she immediately thought of the black leather diary she had taken from his tallest shelf earlier that afternoon. A book with gold hardware on the corners, inscribed with the name 'Tom Marvolo Riddle' in elegant writing. She hadn't thought much about the dairy at that time, it was just an old book with yellowed, empty pages. What was so important about it?

Draco was clueless, " I don't know father, I haven't touched anything in here. "

Y/N swallowed hard, her pulsed quickening. She knew she'd taken it. But why was her father acting so upset over a bank book?

" Something very important! Whoever took it must speak now-there will no consequences if you speak up. " Lucius raised his voice. The children exchanged glances, neither of them brave enough to speak. The air between them thickened with tension. Y/N felt her hands getting sweaty.

" Very well. " Lucius stood, his tall figure casting a shadow on his children.
" If I found out that one of you has it... There will be consequences. " He said, his lips pressing into a tight line.

The words hit Y/N, she quickly nodded her head. Draco, equally as frightened, copied his sister's actions.

" You're dismissed. " They both hurried out of the room, retreating to the safety of their rooms.

That night, as the house grew silent, Y/N stayed awake staring at the ceiling. Her mind racing. Why did her father acted so strongly over a blank, empty diary? The unanswered question ate away at her, urging her to find an answer.

With a quiet sigh, she got out her bed, beneath her mattress tucked away was the book. She grabbed it and carried it to her desk, her fingers trembling as they gazed over the old book. The gold cursive writing 'Tom Marvolo Riddle' gleamed in the moonlight. Why was her father hiding this?

She settled into her padded velvet chair, taking a deep breath as she opened the book. The pages were yellow and aged, but they were still blank. Then her quill hovered above the first page.

' Y/n Stella Malfoy '

The ink stood for a brief moment before it vanished into the page. Confused, she stared at the book. Her heart beating faster with every second that goes by, just as she was about to close it in frustration, words appeared.

' Hello Y/N. My name is Tom Riddle '

Y/N's breath caught in her throat, she blinked. Staring at the words as they magically appeared out of nowhere. What was happening? It didn't take told until she gripped her quill.

' Who are you? '

The ink dried then vanished into the page again. She waited for a brief moment until words began to show up.

' Let me show you '
