Chapter 3- Plot twist

I was honestly stunned for a moment by how hot this guy actually was! He could be some sort of Calvin Kline model, not a Starbucks employee. I'm pretty sure there's a 6 pack underneath that shirt and apron. I wonder how he looks nak-

"Stephanie, what do you want?"

Blinking and looking quickly at Jessica I escape out of my thoughts.

"What?? Oh, ummm", I mumble embarressed, with a bright blush on my face most likley," I'll have the Caramel Cocoa Cluster please..." and I give him my card trying to avoid his gaze and focus on the floor I'm pretty sure I see Jacob smile at me in the corner of my eye.

Handing me back my card, I quickly take a peek at him to see that he's already staring at me with the eyes the color of the ocean in the summer piercing straight through me and a smile playing on his lips.

Still embarressed, I give him a slight smile and walk away to meet Jessica sitting at a table near a window who was watching the whole thing, looking at me with the 'mmhhh I see you girl' look. Sitting down i feel her eyes on me as i try to avoid her stare.

The silence was broken when she said, "You like him don't you."

Looking at her I reply," I don't know what you're talking about."

Opening her mouth to answer we hear Jacob call saying our orders are ready so I get up and walk over to him.

The few steps it took for me to reach to where he was, he was staring at me the entire time, biting his lip and checking me out, feeling suddenly insecure of everything about me: what I was wearing, how I was walking and if my breath smelled good. Approaching him I reach for the two drinks and give him a smile and saying thanks.

Before I walked away he stopped me.

"Wait, what's you're name? You look familiar." He said, looking at me with slightly slit eyes and a tilt to his head with curiosity.

Turning towards him a little more I reply, "Stephanie. And I don't think so because I would remember if I saw you before." And with that I wink and continue walking away, making sure I sway my hips a little more knowing he's looking at me.

Sitting down and handing Jessica her drink I look at her to see her eyebrows raised and her mouth gaping a little bit. "You so totally have a huge crush on him!"

Not answering her I take a sip from my frapp, and look at Jacob to see him making someone else's drink order. "Hey what's that on your cup?"

Looking down at my cup to see what Jessica pointed out I see written in black sharpie 'Call Me' with a number written under it and a winkie face. A smile widens on my face. "Well would you look at that," I begin,putting my sun shades slowly on my face, "looks like I still got game".
Jessica and I are laughing when the sound of someone clearing their throat interrupts U.S. and we look to see who it was.

"Brennen? Hey when did you get here?"
Brennen, with his eyes squinted, forehead crumpled, and his face turning red, he speaks," What the hell was that Stephanie?"

I look at him confused, not knowing what he was talking about. " What was what?" I say honestly confused.
"That flirting façade you just pulled with that Guy over there!?" Wildly pointing over to Jacob whose staring at the whole thing going on right now.

"That was me flirting," I say getting a little more angrier with him, " That's what single people do with single people. FLIRT. It's not like I have a boyfriend, do i? You're not my boyfriend so you can't get mad at me for anything." At this point I'm standing face to face with him now. Well, my face to his chin since he's taller than I am. His angry face mimicked on mine.

The few people that are sitting in the cafe are now silent and eves dropping, feeling the tension raise higher every second.
We stare at each other a little longer until he breaks the silence.

" You're right. We're both single. I guess I could keep looking for a girlfriend since obviously you want to stay single and flirt with every guy you see."

And with that he turned around quickly and out the door with a couple of his friends I didn't see standing behind him before. I continue standing, looking to where Brennen once was while I hear the sound of tires screeching away. Tears threatening to break free from my eyes.

Oh god. What did I just do!?

I grab my car keys leaving my frappé behind and run to the door, Jessica following quickly behind, and we jump into the jeep.

Putting my jeep into drive I speed out of the parking lot and onto the road.

"Stephanie, calm down! Pull over on the side of the road and calm down!"
I couldn't hear anything but faint mumbling noises. All I could see was red as the tears spilling out of my eyes clouded my vision. I didn't know what I was headed to but I know it's far away from here.

The flashback of the way Brennen looked at me... All that hatred and disappointment directed at me for me flirting with a stranger. How could I have done that to Brennen after how nice and sweet he's treated me? He didn't deserve that.

Reaching my left arm up to wipe my eyes, I hear Jessica yell repeatedly in my ear.

"Stephanie!! Watch out! Watch o-"

Everything after that seemed to go in slow motion, as if I wasn't even there anymore. The truck impact on my side. The flipping and skidding of the jeep. Broken glass flying gracefully through mid air. Everything seemed like a dream.

I couldn't feel anything on my body except for ferocious pounding on my head as if someone was whacking me with a steel hammer. I couldn't move my neck for it hurt when I tried to move it. I could tell we were upside down because I was laying fully on the ceiling of the car since I forgot to put my seatbelt on.

What sounded like miles away, I could hear the sound of police and fire truck sirens.

A few minutes later Unfamiliar faces began peeking through the broken front window where I was faced and began reaching for me, dragging on through the broken glass and crumpled steel. I couldn't even feel the glass tearing my skin as I glided over it.

Pulling me all the way out of the crushed car they laid me on a stretcher and tried speaking to me but I couldn't hear anything. There mouths were moving but no sound was coming out of it. A high pitched buzzing sound was ringing through my ears.not caring about anything at this moment I look up at the baby blue sky, white cotton balls floating over a couple birds who were flying over me.

And with that I was out...
