୨ 008; seiu sato is a machine ୧

Start from the beginning

i look at him,
"so why did you lie and say that you didn't hear anything? you know how sketchy that is?"

"i do it subconsciously when i don't want to get involved. sorry if i uh.. concerned you or something.."

his reply made me broke my serious facade into a chuckle,
"alright alright.. so you won't tell anyone though right? you promise? it'll be between you, myself and sakusa right? or i'll get niji to smash a ball square in your face during our next match-- i will!"

he smiles,
"i don't talk much about business that isn't my own even without promising them, but if you'd like me to then..."

he offers his pinky with a soft smile and looking directly into my eyes,

"i promise. you won't hear a word out of me"

i take his pinky with my own returning his smile,
"yeah well if i do i'll just take my cochlear off."

earning a small chuckle as he lets go,
we never made that much eye contact and when we did it would be for half a second and his eyes would shoot right back down to the floor awkwardly but this time when he stared into my eyes there was no sense of shyness; just a guy with a promise he was strangely passionate on keeping.

the cicadas chirps flowed through the humid winds causing the leaves of the tree we leaned against to fall with every rustle, then the comforting silence of a boy i knew but never exchanged many words to sitting next to me reminded me of something.

it was like i was brought back to the summer of 2003. except i wasn't dreaming about it, i was re-living it.

‿‿‿‿

i woke up that morning with the bright sunlight peaking through the curtains. i was the last one to wake up and everyone was already getting ready. i cleaned my futon then put in my cochlear and got up to join the girls,

"mownin sheyu"
(morning seiu)
niji says looking back from the mirror, mouth full of toothpaste and a toothbrush,

"morning niji"
i smile at how silly she looked,

"morning tori"
i say turning around

"goodmorning seiu!"
she smiles, putting down her lip gloss,

i go grab my toothbrush, start to brush my teeth then take a seat on the counter

"woah uh you do realise we're only gonna play volleyball today. no need to be looking hotter than you normally do"
junabi says walking in,

tori smiles,
"i just wanna look nice today.."
a blush creeping on her face,

"HWEEEEY DONT GIWE MWE DAT! WHO OO JESSING UW WOR??"
(HEEY DONT GIVE ME THAT! WHO YOU DRESSING UP FOR??)
niji says pointing at tori,

"hey.. it's that kenma guy isn't it? i saw you talking to him yesterday!"
junabi says raising one eyebrow with a smirk,

"junabiiii.. it's not anything now i just.. wanna get to know him that's all.."
she says between her hands

"WIIIITE. why dat fweek enywe?"
(RIIIIGHT. why that freak anyway?)
niji says, examining her skin in the mirror,

"HE'S NOT A FREAK! i just think we could get along.. and boys like him are hard to find! he's mature, quiet, smart-- did you see his plays? and you know.. he's cute.."
tori says smiling whilst looking through her makeup bag to find her blush,

"i guess tori is right. anyway i'm all for it! but if he leads you on best believe i'm smashing his face into a brick wall"
i say spitting out the toothpaste from my mouth then rinsing.

niji looks up confused, spitting the toothpaste out of her mouth as well,
"i thought you hated that guy"

"nah i had a conversation with him last night. he's really sweet he's just super quiet"
i admit, now washing my face.

"really? what did you two talk about?"
tori asks excitedly taking the brush away from her hair,

crap what was i gonna say now

"ah we just bumped into each other while going on a walk. we both couldn't sleep"
i lie,

"i wish that was me.."
tori sighs

earning laughs from the three of us including herself

"did you write kenma in your crush book?"
niji asks,

"you know it"
she winks,

tori owns a pink book where she writes down the names of all the boys she's had a crush on ever since she was only very little.

"okay well i'm gonna head out for breakfast now, bye girls!"

"bye tori!"
we say in unison
