The weekend came and Vidia still had this nagging feeling that was crawling its way up her throat and was begging to be spewed out of her mouth. She couldn't help this urge to be near Hazel, and after not being able to talk to her after the club, it felt infuriating. Vidia never knew what it felt like to yearn so badly for something that felt so far out of reach.

But today was the club fundraiser day, granted Vidia isn't sure how this could've gotten approved through school admission, but she'd rather not question it. She turned the wheel of her car into the parking lot, which was actually more of a deserted lot in the middle of nowhere. From a distance, she could see Hazel sitting behind PJ and Josie who stood in front of her.

A lot of the girls had already gathered for the fundraiser and it seemed to Vidia that she might have been the last one to show up. She closed the door of her car, making sure the doors were locked and began heading over their way.

As she approached the three girls, she caught the end of their conversation with Brittany and Isabel, overhearing something about touching feet. Odd, she thought, but it was PJ and Josie, so what was there really to be surprised about by now.

Vidia put her hands in the pockets of her unzipped jacket, announcing her arrival with a short, "Hey, guys."

"Oh. Hi, Vidia." Josie answered before returning to the conversation she was having with PJ.

She rolled her eyes slightly at their little attention span when it came to anybody but themselves and instead diverted her attention to Hazel, who by now was rocking back and forth.

Hesitantly she questioned, "Hazel, you doing alright?"

The only response she got were groans as she gripped her shirt and forced it over her bent knees, using it to cover and shield her body. It was clear that she feeling uncomfortable and bothered by something, and this was evident not just by that but also by the continuous plethora of groans that continued to be her only sense of communication.

Vidia didn't particularly want to interrupt whatever was going on with Hazel, so she pretty much let her do her own thing. It wasn't long before PJ's less than short temper was set off and she judgmentally asked, "Hazel, what is wrong? Are you constipated or something?"

"I'm fucking tired." She responded quickly, "My mom was up all night fucking the meathead."

Vidia furrowed her eyebrows, muttering a small, "Meathead?" as she looked confusedly towards Josie and PJ.

"You know, like, the guy. He's like the crybaby." The silence was more than enough for her realize that not one of the three girls standing before her understood whatever the hell she was talking about, "With the balls? He catches them and he throws them? He's like the main guy."

It started to click that Hazel was talking about Jeff, and Vidia's mind exploded.

"Jeff?" Josie was bewildered, "Is your mom hooking up with Jeff?"

"Holy shit." Vidia added with an equal amount of shock.

"I just thought Jeff might be her safe word." Hazel was clearly not too aware of what was typically right in her face all day long. There's literally posters around school with Jeff that say 'Get Horny' and the girl couldn't even remember his name.

"Jeff is his name, you idiot."

Hazel's eyes were squinted as she looked up at the girls, "I just get the hot people confused, Jesus."

All of the girls looked towards Isabel, who was currently laughing at something the old man in front of her said. It was at this moment that Vidia felt sad for the girl. It was clear that Jeff wasn't the best option for a significant other, but they'd been together a long time and Vidia could only imagine the hurt Isabel would feel when she found out.

And on top of that she began to think of Hazel and how not only was she having to deal with her parents' divorce, but now the addition of her mother hooking up with her school's most popular football player who happened to be one of her friend's boyfriend. It was royally fucked up was the conclusion that Vidia silently came up with.

Now, obviously Vidia knew she wasn't the absolute best at consoling others, thank the nearly two decades of isolation for that. However, anything was better than nothing when the girl that could do no bad in her eyes was practically rotting from the inside in front of her.

So, she sat down on the pavement beside her and willed her way to say something that could be comforting towards the brunette.

"You know, if you ever want to talk more, you can always come to me." It wasn't much, obviously, but there was only one way to really extend her hand, "We could always go to my house or where I work is usually pretty quiet and chill."

Hazel's eyes stayed a bit distant, "I would appreciate that."

"I just, well, I remember you talking about dealing with your parents divorce and, I mean, I can only imagine what this adds on to that."

Their eyes met and for a second Vidia could practically see into Hazel's mind. It was as if every wall had crashed down and she could see every single piece that put Hazel together.

"How about tonight?" Hazel asked quickly, "We can also try to study for Mr. G's test thats coming up."

Vidia's eyes widened slightly as her heartbeat picked up, "Yeah, sounds great."

The two girls were blissfully unaware that both of their eyes were beating just as fast, yet suffering with idea that it was one-sided.
