Start from the beginning

"Your parents were traitors." The voice that answered instead of him belonged to Walburga Black. "They deserved what they got."

William was fuming by then. "They were murdered! And none of you cares!?"

He received blank stares back from the entire room. Of course, no one cared, they were all a part of the same clan and if anyone spoke up they would end up like William's parents did. The room was eerily silent after that and William looked defeated. Jasmine put her hand on his shoulder, which was rising and falling with the heavy breaths he took. He looked at her, his eyes spelling the words I'm sorry.

"You've tried." Jasmine whispered with a helpless shrug.

The silence was broken again by Mr Pearson clearing his throat rather loudly. "Now that we're done with this nonsense –"

"Marrying out of love didn't turn out the best for David either." Jasmine's mother appeared at the door that led to the kitchen.

A slight groan escaped Mr Pearson as he was interrupted again. But then quickly a smile, a true fake one this time, edged on his face as he turned to his former wife. "My wife, everyone. Making an appearance at the right time."

He disregarded her sentence entirely. He also didn't speak to her but to the audience, as if she was something to present. Jasmine guessed that everyone in the room didn't even know the two were divorced as Mr Pearson liked to hide the true facts about their family. She didn't know how to feel, seeing her mum standing in this house. She knew she'd come but being in this house brought so many emotions back for both of them. They locked eyes for a second and Aleah gave her a reassuring nod.

They are going to be fine.

Jasmine's eyes flickered across the room and she spotted Isla, who now stood beside Sirius. She heard a creak behind her and turned to see Smirnitsky who entered the situation as well. She wasn't aware of what kind of plan they had in mind, they wanted to protect her so naturally they didn't tell her. That ignited a spark to fight in Jasmine, but it just as quickly died down as she had no energy in her to fight them. She just wanted everything to be over already.

"Former wife." Aleah corrected Mr Pearson and stepped further into the room. "But you are right, I came just at the right time to let everyone know this engagement is off and there will be no ceremony. There is no legal ground where this engagement can even stand on."

For the third time that day, gasps flew around the room.

"Not you as well. I've already solved the problem of Jasmina's age at the time of her being handed off." Mr Pearson said as if he was proud of the fact he was able to get rid of one of the lawyers at the Ministry.

"I'm talking about something else," Aleah continued calmly. "You wouldn't want to marry Jasmine to Gabriel if that meant you're going to have half-blood heirs, would you?"

"What are you talking about? They would have pureblood children." Mr Pearson looked around and everyone stared back at him, not saying a word. Fear mixed with anger woven itself into his voice as he tracked back what he said. "Fawley is a pureblood family, Pearson is a pureblood family, ..."

"Cadman isn't." Aleah finished her maiden name instead of him.

"What!?"

"You were so blindly in love when we were seventeen that you never second-guessed me on my blood status. You believed I was pureblood from the very beginning. Now I'm not sure if you married me because of my status or if it was truly love, but when I got pregnant it was too late to tell you the truth. So I let you believe it, to protect myself, to protect Jasmine, but enough is enough. You cannot and will not marry off your half-blood daughter."

"Liar!" Mr Pearson burst with rage and pulled out his wand.

Jasmine grabbed William's hand out of fear. She saw her father raise his hand at her mum, she saw him hit her, but never did she see him pointing a wand at her. William squeezed her hand in reassurance, but his face portrayed fear as well.

"Am I?" Aleah counteracted and grabbed her wand as well in case of protection.

"Cadman isn't even a wizarding family name." Came a quiet voice from somewhere in the room.

"You married a mudblood." Came another.

Mr Pearson blinked, his knuckles whitening with him gripping the wand so tightly as he was pointing it at his former wife.

"You gave hell to your own daughter her whole time at Hogwarts for supposedly staining your family name, when in fact you stained it long before she was even born," she continued in a calm manner.

"Shut up you deceiving little bitch!" Mr Pearson was finally showing his true colours in front of everyone who was pureblood. If they looked at him with admiration before, now they looked at him with disgust. "I'm not at fault here. You brought this plague into this community!"

"Who proposed, though?" Aleah asked simply.

Mr Pearson glared at her before he circled the room with his eyes. Just about everyone with a status was judging him.

"Don't look at me! I did nothing wrong. I was fooled by this witch here." He waved his wand at Aleah. "You should be judging her!"

"We believed your lies all this time," said one pureblood wizard.

"Your mistake brought the plague."

"You don't deserve the respect of a pureblood wizard. Traitor!"

"Traitor!"

From everywhere came the same accusations and soon the whole room erupted in yells.

"Silence!" Mr Pearson had enough. "Let me prove to you once and for all that I am deserving of respect." He paused and made sure he looked everyone in the eyes as he said those words.

What is he on about? Thought Jasmine. Her hand was still tightly squeezing William's as she watched the whole scene unravel in front of her. Her heart wanted to jump out of her chest with the stress and nerves she was feeling. Smirnitsky took a step forward so he slightly covered Jasmine and William. His stance was alert as no one had an idea what Mr Pearson was about to do or say.

The man's wand lowered to his previous position.

"Avada Kedavra!
