You found out you shared an interest in learning, especially science where you liked biology and he liked physics and math with some overlap.
You excitedly told him about your dreams of becoming a biologist, and he about his desire to have a YouTube channel and make content. More importantly, you had made your first real friend.
As the two of you got older and pursued your respective interests, you seemed more attached than him, Michael became much more focused on his work and other people. He seemed to be more distracted, looking off into space or mowing his fingernails down. You think at first it must be something to do with bullies or a test coming up...
"What's wrong?"
He looks at you secretively.
"Um... Birdie, I...I have a crush on someone."
