"I'm in love" by The Gap Band blared through Justine's headphones as she laid on her back. It was lights out for the night, so she decided a little radio would help her sleep. It seemed to do the opposite as she'd heard nothing but the songs her parents used to play around the house as a child. It brought her comfort but also made her heart ache; she missed them both so much.

The 7-year-old sat in the front seat of her father's Cadillac Coupe DeVille as The Gap Band played at a decent level. The windows were down, and the breeze felt like heaven on her skin.

They cruised down the street; people would stop and wave at the man who offered his award-winning smile back.

As they pulled over, Justine couldn't help but marvel at her father's magnetic presence. People on the sidewalk turned their heads, acknowledging him with nods and waves. Her father, Johnnie, stepped out, leaving the scent of his cologne lingering in the air.

"You sit right here and don't move." She nodded and looked down at her dress.

He picked her head up with his finger, "You don't ever put yo head down and use yo words."

"Yes sir." She smiled, displaying her missing teeth.

Justine's father returned to the car with the three women in tow. The child had known them as his employees, Toni, Minnie, and Linda. The rhythm of the music seemed to sync with the purring engine as they resumed their cruise through the streets.

Once they slid into the backseat, she turned to face them.

"Hey lil cutie!" Linda smiled, seeing the adorable girl.
