"Hitomi-sama, the guests are all there" a voice informed and Hitomi brushed away her thoughts with slight difficulty. She looked at Hinata who gave her a worried look and she smiled trying her best to quell the uneasiness that grew with the passing seconds. This thoughts combined with today just made her seem uneasy because she had a feeling it wasn't over just yet.

Today was Hinata's official birthday party for her turning five and Hitomi needed to get a grip. She tied Hinata's hair and gently held Hanabi while Hinata stood up and blushed looking at the mirror version of herself. The reflection showed a shadow of a tall man next to her which Hinata gulped slightly as her fingers trembled while she looked at her mother with a nervous smile on her face. Hopefully her mother hadn't noticed anything.

Hinata tried to hide the uneasiness in her heart and stared at her mother who was looking gently at Hanabi. She released a shaky breath and resisted the tears in her eyes, she did not know what was going on. She couldn't understand what had been happening this past few months, but she knew she couldn't admit it to her parents. She would leave them to their own thoughts and would not admit that she might now be alone in her own mind. It would keep them safe, that what's the voice had implied anyway. But could she really trust it?

"Come let's go" Hitomi beckoned as Hinata hid the guilt and nervousness by looking at her feet. She was so afraid, no she was more than afraid, she was petrified, but she couldn't, she couldn't show it. Not tonight.

Her mother sensed her struggle and placed a hand on her shoulder. She knelt on the ground much to Hinata's surprise and fear. Hinata's eyes were full of fear and shame so she looked away from her mother. She couldn't hide it from her mother, she really couldn't. She was about to speak when her mother grabbed her chin and gave her a gentle smile as their eyes met.

"It's ok to be afraid, it's ok to be ashamed. You are human, you can't be expected to do the right things at the right moments or always make the right decisions. You can't shelter anything on your own, you need help. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for and whatever situation, and whatever moments, remember that I wouldn't love you any less"

Her mother gently muttered with a kind, understanding smile and a glint of knowing in her eyes. Hinata felt a tear fall from her face as she looked down in shame while Hitomi hugged her.

"Thank you kaa-chan, I'll remember your words" Hinata swore in her heart and Hitomi smiled gently, "yes I believe you will and I hope you tell Hanabi the same words" they both looked at the baby who was asleep with snort running on her nose. They made eye contact and laughed simultaneously as Hinata wiped her tears and walked down the stairs with her mother.

She greeted people politely with her head bowed shyly as to not look anyone in the eye. Hinata didn't want anyone to know that she had cried, she couldn't, it would be a disgrace for her clan.

Letting those thoughts sink in, Hinata walked to the children's table. She sat next to a kid with raven hair and quietly watched them converse amongst each other whilst releasing a soft sigh, at least no one was paying much attention to her, so she kept quiet.

"You talk a lot" a rude voice said looking at the boy who was talking with the other children. Hinata recognized the rude boy as one of her distant cousins. She said nothing and grew more quiet, she didn't want to engage in any conversations with him, so she'd rather say nothing. It seemed the other children were reading her minds as they ignored him and continued talking amongst each other.

Their childish minds were quite simple, If the birthday girl didn't talk to this rude Hyūga then there was no need for them to talk to him nor pay attention to him. Seemingly annoyed, the ten year old grabbed Hinata's wrist and dragged her away from the other children.

Hinata didn't say anything and let him do as he pleased. However that turned to be mistake as she found herself on a ploy to escape from the compound. She stopped and grabbed her wrist away from him while she looked around, there was only just them and they were still in the compound, she felt uneasy. Where were the guards?

"Come on let's go" her cousin said with an annoyed expression on his face. He seemed to be very impatient which strengthened Hinata's resolve to stay back, she did not want to leave, not under these circumstances. It wasn't safe, and it would bring nothing but trouble for her.

She stepped back from her cousin, was he trying to get her in trouble? She flinched at that thought, but didn't get time to respond as he yanked her wrist and closed her mouth. The voice that came after definitely did not belong to a young ten year old boy "one move and you die"

Hinata froze.Tears stained her cheek as she felt fear. She was afraid. She was so afraid. Please take control, she begged in her mind, but wherever had taken control when lying to her parents, seemed to have disappeared.

"Who's there!" Her captor shouted as he grabbed her neck and took out his kunai threat. It was then Hinata realized that he had changed from the appearance of a young boy to an older man, a ninja to be exact. She spotted beads of sweat on his forehead and couldn't help but hope, that maybe she was going to be saved.

There was a deadly silence as Hinata saw a flash of metal. Her captor suddenly coughed up blood and trembled to the ground whilst Hinata fell flat faced on a puddle of blood.

The nauseating smell of blood flooded her nostrils and she choked, feeling the food she had eaten push out. She vomited on the ground as tears continuously fell, seeing someone die no matter even if that person was a danger to her, it was an unpleasant sight to behold, especially at her young age.

Hinata felt breathless and couldn't help but feel a tight note in her stomach. It wasn't sensing skills or anything, but she could feel it in her heart, Hinata wasn't alone. She felt the uneasiness clung on her as she looked at the dead body of her captor. It made sense that she wouldn't be alone because of this man's death, but she hadn't seen anything. Just, just a flash of a metal.

Before she could dwell depper, rough fingers pressed on her neck and the last thing she saw was onyx eyes that stared right at her. "Death is the way of life of a ninja" the man, no not a man, the boy muttered codly and that was the last thing she heard before eveything went black.
