Chapter 19

"Greg I demand you tell me whats going on?"

My mother was just as oblivious to why Greg and a team of officers came to Her job and my school and abruptly took us.

"Elizabeth!"

hearing Greg say my mothers real name startled me. I had grown to know her as Marime.

"I didn't alert you of this sooner because they told me the situation was under control.. Then things were getting a tad suspicions again but once again they reassured me every thing was fine. They even told me he was dead."

Greg was rambling now.

"Spit it out Greg!!"

My mother said getting impatient. He was starting to really scare my mother and I now.

"He's out Elizabeth! He escaped! He's been at large ever since Jessica got out!"

Hearing him say my name brought it all flooding back. Until then my past had just been a faded distant dream, A night mare that I had woken up from, but now I could no longer live in my perfect world. My mother shrieked in horror.

"Greg!! Why weren't we alerted of this earlier?!!"

My mother yelled.

"Because!"

 Greg said yelling back

"They told me he was dead! They even had a body to prove it!"

My mothers face relaxed a bit.

"Well if hes dead then what is the meaning of this?"

Greg was silent for a moment. I felt the realization hit me as I said

"Because he's.. not dead.. Is he?"

I said looking up at Greg, knowing now, what was at stake. Greg looked at me and shook his head.

"No.. I'm afraid not Jessica."

 "Oh God!"

I yelled right as my mother did. I started to hyperventilate.

"Calm down Jessica. Everything will be ok. Were going to take you and your mother home to pack a suit case and then were going to take you guys away from here. Some where far away maybe Paris this time."

He said trying to make this situation better but all I got was the irony of the situation. What about Michael I thought. And Emerson my best friend? I couldn't leave them. I had already lost too many friends now and I wasn't about to lose them.

"I'm not leaving!"

I said sternly as the car turned to pull into their drive way.

"You have no choice."

Greg said not even looking at me.

"Yes I do! Think about it. All he wants is me! Why don't you just call some units and use me as bait?!"

I'd seen this done on a TV show and explained to them how this would work.

"No!"

 My mother said.

"Listen sweetie I'm sorry that your life had to be this way."

She looked away from me, her eyes filling with tears. "But it is this way. And you just have to accept that. Now I know you have to leave your friends but its no different than from the last time now is it?"

"MOM! YOUR NOT GETTING IT ARE YOU?!"

I yelled no longer trying to stop the urge of crying.

"I'm tired of running! I'm tired of always having to pick up and move and change my life just because we suspect some thing. Now we have a chance to end it! If he is caught they will give him the death sentence!"

 She just looked at me.

"Mom,"

I said softly

"This could be our only chance."

"JESSICA! I SAID NO! Now I'm sorry that you have to leave your friends. But one day you'll thank us for this! You'll thank us for keeping you alive and safe! Now go up stairs and pack one suit case and that's it. When you finish come down stairs! "

I watched as she turned away from me and went towards her room all the while mumbling about this whole thing.
