They say family is the most important thing, and I used to disagree until I realized than family is more than the blood running through your veins. More than your parents, aunts, uncles, fousins, grandparents. Family is who you love. Who you care about. Who makes you feel safe. For some people, their family has the same blood, but that's not true for me.
My family isn't made up of people who share the same blood. My family is made up of people who share the same love. Who share the same care. My family may not be blood, but they love and care about one another, more than those who share my blood ever will.
My family has never made me question their love. Never made me think that they would enjoy their life more without me in it. My family makes me feel safe. I can trust them. And trust and love is more important than anything. Maybe blood runs thicker than water, but nothing is stronger than trust.
