The rain was pouring outside as per the muffled raindrops told you from your room.
The room was dark and messy like any other chronically depressed college student. You were back for the holidays but you wouldn't say you were happy to be back because that meant being huddled in the corner of your room listening to your parents yell and throw stuff at each other.
You thought you would've grown immune to the sound of fighting and smashing of glass but you weren't. You stood up from the corner you had shuffled yourself in earlier and grabbed your phone. You opened the door and treaded lightly downstairs were destruction took place.
When your parents fight each other there was no place for outside influences for them so they didn't even take notice when you went past them and went through the door even when you slammed the door.
There was a park a few blocks away from your house that you used to visit when you were still in highschool. You used to walk there when your parents felt like fighting, which is the same thing you'll be doing now since nothing has changed.
The rain hasn't stopped but that didn't stop you from walking in the rain. You didn't really care if your act resulted in a cold atleast it would give you an excuse to be out of that house into a hospital instead. So there you went gettting soaked by the minute in the rain.
It didn't take much for you to reach the park. Letting your gaze scan across the park to see how different it was from when you had left.
The trees where no longet lively and inviting but bare and missed their leaves and flowers. The grass was barely green as the yellow and brown colour took over from its previous green pigment.
The recreational equipment fortunately were still embedded on the same place. One of the swings had broken it's string leaving only one usuable.
You moved forward to the bench that had comforted you over the years and sat on it. It was damp and cold but it was still your familiar bench.
When you were in highschool you would sit here and observe. You weren't much of a talker really so friends were scarce therefore you would live through the people you saw in the park.
A bunch of college students from your neighbourhood would settle near the end of the park and skate or even smoke together so they were the perfect subject for you to live through.
Now you were their age but you still didn't do anything rebellious apart from smoking a cigarette and even so you only indulged in nicotine on odd days. The rain still poured while you took a path down memory lane.
The rain wasn't harsh and cold on your clothes and skin when you were first exposed to it but now that you're damb the cold started getting to you. As stubborn as you are you still chose to stay but huddled your body close to you.
The rain seemed to stop but the sound of rain still smashed on the ground and the cold wind carried on blowing. You eyes travelled up to be met with an umbrella above your head. The umbrella was huge and black and the corner had the initials B.E that were stitched with a golden thread.
The owner's hand was gripping on the umbrealla with one of their hands and the other was acquainted with a cigarette. The person had a warm scent radiating from them but that scent was blocked by clouds of smoke blowing on your face.
When the smoke reached your face you couldn't help but inhale which led to a slight cough from you that the unkown figure seem to catch.
"My apologies princess I didn't intend it to get on your face" The words slipped out of the woman's mouth.
