Drew's P.O.V
Another day, another chapter done. That's all the days amount to, closer to finishing the next book. While everyone else chats with their friends, I'm here, in my little corner eating a sandwich and reading the latest horror novel. The table I sit at is nice and neat, never crowded with garbage as I never have any. I look over to see a group of kids at a table nearby laughing and discussing loudly.
"Why can't anyone just be quiet at lunch?" I mumble to myself, it's all I ever manage to do in the way of confrontation. Anyone who looked at me with my black clothes and t-shirts with demonic images would either a) make fun of me, or b) tell me to mind my own business. I grope the red heart on the necklace around my neck, the light hitting it in such a way it glows red dimly.
"Hey!" A voice rings out from the other side of the lunchroom.
"Oh no" I say, it's Ben and he looks peeved.
"What's up Black Soul?" Ben teases, using a nickname he made once a year or two back. He stuck with it because everyone laughed, I suppose that' would be the best reason too but that doesn't make it any less annoying.
"Not now Ben." I sigh, wishing I could eat one lunch in peace. But when Ben "Gun Show" Powers is around, you better count their crosses because he's a-coming. "I just want to eat my lunch without you striding up to me and acting like your Mister Worldwide or something." Needless to say Ben didn't take being mocked well.
"Oh you ain't seen nothing yet Black Soul." Ben says, getting so close I could smell his lunch, peanut butter and potato's, disgusting. "You ain't even my main target, but hey, maybe you need to learn your place Black Soul." Just then the bell to sign the end of lunch rings and Ben smiles and slowly walks away. "You'll see Black Soul! Sooner rather then later!"
I sigh as I pack up my half eaten lunch. "Maybe I need to find a new spot." banishing the notion instantly, this was the only spot he could eat without drawing stares and hushed conversations about if I was cursed or haunted or whatever stereotypical goth kid crap they spew. I knew it was going to be a long year, but hey, it's my last year at Crestwood, that alone lifts my spirits slightly. Just then some kids pass by and call me yet another new name and my mood crashes down once again. "One more year," I tell myself, "Just one more year."
