🌘Chapter 15🌒

Start from the beginning

"Your mission is to find as much as possible in Rotfield without being discovered. Try to locate two towers there as well, it's said they may be kept hostage there," Swordmaster instructed. Frost Spirit nodded.

Sinister huffed as he stomped out the embers, "You better be right about this, Swordmaster. Cause I swear if he gets hurt..." He calmed as Frost Spirit came over to bid farewell.

"I will be okay, this is very important to us! I will be back before the sun rises, do get some rest," Frost Spirit put Sinister at ease. With that, he took flight despite the hiss from Void Reaver to come back. It was just a scouting mission, this idiot should be asleep by now anyways.

Gaining more and more altitude, Frost Spirit became invisible among the night sky. It would take a good eye to spot him, Frost Spirit just hoped there was none of those awake right now.

Frost Spirit glided along the winds, the winds cold. Frost Spirit missed this kind of freedom, but he was still anxious that an arrow might fly up at him. No matter how hard he told himself that he was camouflaged, it didn't ease him all the well.

He has been flying for a while now, most likely an hour at best. The place was far, that was for sure. The towers would have quite the journey when it came time to go to battle.

However, wings were faster than wheels. Rotfield was coming up, the torches illuminating it. Frost Spirit slightly descended so he could get a better look. His eye sight was amazing, but not insane.

The place was full of long stalks of corn and wheat. It looked to be an abandoned farm, the buildings old and unkept. There was even an old rusty car that looked to have been ran off the road and into a tree. Right in the middle of corn and wheat was a scarecrow. Frost Spirit found it a bit amusing how it was suppose to scare off birds such as himself.

There was no living creatures out there, at least none that Frost Spirit could see. He could see the opening of a cave though. That was something to take account of. He knew Swordmaster told him not to engage in any confrontations, but Swordmaster should of thought about that before sending the most naturally curious titan out to go scout.

Gliding away from the field, Frost Spirit gently landed a bit away from it. That gave him room to sneak over there and towards that cave he had saw while flying above.

As Frost Spirit began to walk around the dark parts of the outer edges of Rotfield, he heard something from the barn. At first, he was about to retreat and fly away, but the sound sounded too distressing to ignore. It sounded like a whine, a human whine.

Frost Spirit looked around the field to make sure nothing was out there before he made his next move. He kept low to the ground and crept towards the barn so he could try to listen inside it.

The wood was old and rotting, so Frost Spirit didn't dare put his head against it. However, he heard what he needed to hear loud enough. It was two voices, the two talking to one another.

"I'm starving! He only gives us one ear of corn to share each day! Besides, he doesn't even give us any butter..." a voice complained. The other voice hushed them, "If he hears us complaining, he won't give us anything! We'll have to wait until rescue arrives. I'm sure our sister has found a way to contact someone."

The first voice groaned, "I sure hope they arrive soon." Then it fell quiet, neither of them speaking.

That was all Frost Spirit needed to hear. He couldn't just leave them here, they wouldn't last another day! Despite the warning bells going off in his head, Frost Spirit kept low to the ground and made his way around the barn and towards the gaping entrance.
