𝐭𝐰𝐨; for sorrow

Start from the beginning

"It's just...what if something had happened to him"

the words feel dreadful on her tongue when she opens her eyes and stares at the look on her husband's face, it's the same that was plastered on her face and she nearly sobs, just the idea of what she is thinking making her so terrified that she nearly cries "nothing happened, he's safe. don't think too much" he sighs and licks his lips, pressing a kiss on her head before he leaves and she knows he is thinking the same thing as her, it's haunting him, all the same, it's haunting her.

The doctor had labeled Felix's state as too much physical exertion and lack of sleep, prescribed medicine and bedrest before he left and now the three people that love Felix the most, or at least the ones he is aware love him the most, surround him in his room while he remains lying on his bed, shivering every once in a while while they watched him with worry. Felix is still sweating profusely, his lips are apart and tears are riding down the side of his face, the sight is truly heartwrenching as he twists his limbs, trying to reach for something that isn't there while his grandmother shifts closer to him and pat his head

praying that this will comfort him while she fights her tears and her husband consistently looks over at her from Felix's side where he is sat, opposing to her, legs curled on the bed as he watches if she cries or not, sick from worry himself. Chan stands in the far corner, next to Felix's window, arms curled over his chest as he stares at the boy and wishes he had done something about whatever reason Felix had been in that forest at night. Of course, it wasn't his fault and it wasn't like he knew anything but he still blamed himself for Felix's state

maybe he should've been more attentive toward Felix, asked him why he had been losing so much sleep, why he had been so distant and why does he look so grim as if he's losing all his energy on things Chan doesn't know of. before Chan can go further in his regretful thoughts he hears the blond mumble something and he immediately rushes to Felix's side, the blond's grandparents are all ears too, paying deep attention to what Felix is mumbling under his breath. it's incoherent at first, like a whisper that is silenced by shut lips but with a few more inaudible whispers they can finally understand what Felix is saying

"he...kept it from me" it's confusing, and barely understandable as they shift closer to the boy, his grandma runs her hand through his damp hair "why--he lied to me, he's not...I don't--" Felix whimpers, shivering again as he tilts slightly on his bed "he's not what I thought" he cries this time, tears running down the sides of his cheeks but he's still unconscious "he...he's not real...not human...not alive" his words thwack over his grandma like she had been struck by lightening, her eyes widen and she slips away from him while his grandfather shakes his head and replaces the hand she had retrieved from his hair, carding his fingers in his hair

"he's probably talking about a movie, don't be scared" he's trying to be nonchalant, trying his best as he looks up at his wife who is looking at Felix with wide eyes. Chan is confused, by their reactions and by Felix's words as he furrows his brows and thinks of querying the unconscious boy, maybe he'd answer through his subconscious "Felix, who lied to you? Who's not real?" his voice is gentle when he moves closer to Felix and looks over his pained face as the boy sobs further and violently shivers, body trembling like he's freezing or in immense pain

"He's dead...a ghost"

Felix's grandmother screams loudly, standing up from the bed and a hand is clasped over her mouth as her tears finally break free and Chan turns to look at her, surprised by her behavior while his grandfather pulls back too, staring at Felix like he had seen something that ought to change the trajectory of his life, his eyes are flushed with fear and so are his wife's. Chan is utterly perplexed as she begins crying horrifiedly "No! Not my baby! No" she begs to some power Chan can't decipher as she falls to her knees and holds her hands together, praying orisons of something as he turns to look at the old man who is sobbing too with his head dropped low
