"I was always afraid of the dark, but lately, I've learned not to fear darkness, but what lurks within it."
I sat in the dark watching the shadows behind the curtains sway right to left, left to right. Whether it was real or my imagination they were there and the dark shadows that cast onto my floor were watching, observing my fear. Joy filling their dark souls. Fear was something that could bring joy to one and terror to another. Why was I the one that was to suffer for their need for joy? It's not fair. it's not fair! The darkness in my room was suffocated by the dawn finally seeping through my curtains. As the warm morning sun blinded my eyes the left to right, right to left swaying of my curtains had stopped. Finally, my room was an atmosphere of piece instead of one of terror, until tonight when their need for joy comes again. I sit up from my bed. My back ached from the strained position I had been in all night, watching the left to right, right to left swaying of my curtains and the dark shadows that were cast on my floor. My legs were filled with pins and needles from my cold bed and my fearful position I had been laying in all night.
I always found the morning sun to be reassuring. It banished the darkness that I feared, the strange shadows that seemed to creep about the corners of my room. It seemed that they never wanted to be seen, only skittering about in the dark, waiting to frighten me once again. I tried to find out the source of these odd occurrences, but each time I went to investigate, nothing could be found. I knew that it couldn't just be my imagination, but was I the only one who could see these shadows?
