Kia looked over the railing of the ship, saddened. She missed her friend, Ali. Why is the world so cruel? She thought. It was a party to celebrate the last day of the academy she was an exchange student at, and the graduation day was yesterday. She didn't have to be there, but it was apparently an "honor" to be in attendance.

Yeah, right. She scoffed. What kind of honor keeps you away from your best friend? Looking back at the party, Kia sighed. Their friends are all here. They don't have to deal with loneliness. Suddenly, a familiar voice approached.

"Aren't you going to come join us?" He asked. "We're just about to start the giant dance."

Kia shook her head, turning to face him. "Marin, you know I can't dance," She said, joking a bit. That was when she heard it. A familiar song, just at the edge of her hearing. It was being sung by a lot of voices, but one of them was Ali. Kia was sure of it. She turned and faced the water, searching intensely for the boat that carried her friend. Marin, upon seeing this, and maybe also hearing the music, began to look out too.

Marin saw it first. "Look!" He exclaimed, pointing. And there it was. A wooden ship, filled with people, all of them merry. Not a single one of them looked lonesome or sad like Kia did. The captain was especially cheery, and Kia recognized her as Ali. She desperately wanted to go and meet her friend again.

Well, She reasoned. Since Marlin's gone, and I don't have to be here anyways...

Everyone heard the splash as Kia dove into the water, and there were so many of them piled against the railing that it's surprising the ship didn't fall over.

But Kia wasn't worried about them as she shot through the water toward's Ali's ship. She was only worried about making it in time for the ship's crew to see her. Almost there, almost...

"Captain!" Someone yelled. "There's someone here!"

"Haul them up and over!" Ali's voice instructed as she presumably ran over. Kia felt herself being hauled up, out of the water. Then she felt someone hugging her, while scolding her at the same time. Probably Ali, judging by the tone.

"Kia, what were you thinking? Doing something like that? Because while that was very cool and all, you nearly died!"

  "Sorry," Kia mumbled, still recovering.

Ali sighed. "Well then, welcome aboard our journey!"

That night, none were lonesome as the stars shone as bright as a sun, and the moon swam through them, a golden hue.
