Chapter One

I woke up in the morning and groaned. It was Friday, and for once I wasn't really looking forward to it. Tonight, One Direction is going to be in Charlotte (North Carolina) and I'm going to their performance with my friend Darby

I'm going because she and my mom say I don't get out enough. Personally, I'm not seeing what the big deal is about a bunch of British guys singing. I said this to Darby, and she said that Niall is Irish. Sometimes you gotta love Darby. So, that is why we're staying there overnight so we can go to an exclusive concert she somehow got tickets to. The way I'm looking at it, at least Darby and I get to hang out. Well, with thousands of other screaming fans.

Darby's picking me up around one o'clock so I have roughly four hours to get ready. I mostly have everything packed, I just need to use my brush, flat iron, and other 'toiletrie articles' as my mom says. So I ate a small breakfast, got dressed packed, and then watched TV until Darby came. At about 12:45 I put a movie on for my brother because he's nine and also a little afraid of staying home alone a couple hours. (weenie!) I figure it will distract him for a little while. It's when Ben Kenobi saves Luke Skywalker that Darby rings the doorbell. I grabbed my bag and phone and left.

My cellphone is kind of my pride and joy. It's how I stay in contactwith my friends in Iowa, where I recently moved from. It also has a notes app where I like to write stories. The best part about writing on my phone is that I can do anywhere, and I can show it to my friends if I want. At the moment I'm writing about a girl who goes to the beach, almost drowns, and is saved by a mysterious persona. All secrets will be revealed. I added to that story on the way to Charlotte.

We went to the hotel when we got there; we had some time to kill before the concert. Darby insisted on doing my hair, makeup, and all that junk while we were waiting. She spent a good hour straightening, glossing, and primping me. It was fun because she wouldn't let me look, so I thought she was going to be funny and clown me up, but I have to say, I looked pretty good when she was done with me.

It was 5:30 and the concert started at 6. We left early because Darby's aunt wanted to be a tiny bit early. We got to our seats-which were surprisingly close-right on the dot, it was six, and Darby was in her element. I think it was the sheer excitement of the humongous crowd.

I admit, it was fun jammin' to some tunes with my best friend, but I still wasn't that big of a fan of One Direction. I mean, there cute and all, but to me they're just dorky dudes, 100% guys. During the intermission Darby wanted to buy a shirt, and I came with her because I was living in the moment. At the table she convinced me to buy a bracelet for the memory.

After the concert the group was signing stuff in one of the hallways. Darby wanted her shirt sighned, and I figured why not, so we went down the hallway. In the hall they had five seperate tables to try to break the crowd up. First we shoved our way to Zayn's table, then Liam's, then Louis'. We were going to go to Harry's, but it was jam packed! instead we went to Niall's table which for some reason had no line at all. That's why Darby started Chatting with him. After a little while I noticed Harry's table was losing business, so I nudged Darby and told her. We then ventured over. All the while I was writing on my phone. I had a bracelet, that's all I needed for my memory. It's not like I had anything to sign. So anyways, Darby handed over her shirt to Mr. Curly Locks, he signed it and handed it back, made small talk, the works. Then he asked if Darby and I were going to the concert tomorrow, and of course she answered yes. He seemed kind of surprised, but I wasn't paying as much attention to them, as I was my story.

"Can I sign something for you?" I looked up and he was staring at me, Harry was. I looked around, Darby had walked back to Niall's table. I guess she had said something and I had missed it.

"Oh, no." I said quickly.

"You seem pretty tuned in to your iPhone there, because your friend said she was going back to Niall's table.' He replied.

"Yeah, I'm writing a story..."

"Your name, It's El?" he asked. He was looking at my phone, where I had stuck a 'hello my name is _____ ' sticker from this art thing I went to.

"Yeah, um, I should probably catch up with Darby." I said, turning around and starting towards Niall's table.

"Wait can I at least sign your hand?" he asked.

"Sure, whatever." I said, holding my arm out to him. I glanced over at Darby. She was still talking to Niall, and he seemed pretty taken with her. But you know what I say, you gotta love Darby.

"There you are." Harry said grinning.

"Thanks." I said flashing him a smile without looking at my hand. Darby saw me coming and said goodbye to Niall, and he said bye too, and then Darby and I left
