Beomgyu went through the pages slowly; in the beginning they were all pictures of the scenery or of cats or the moon and Beomgyu had a smile on his face as he went through them, totally engrossed. Taehyun definitely had an eye for beauty, the man often capturing the essence of everything in one shot.
“You have an eye for beauty…” Beomgyu voiced out slowly as he turned the pages.
Taehyun stared at the man, finding it hard to believe how this man could be this oblivious.
Taehyun sighed, “I do, really.” He said as he continued to watch Beomgyu.
Beomgyu was now leaning against him, resting his head against his shoulder and he was too close.
So close that he could smell the cologne on him and could feel the little movements his body was emitting with every breath.
He felt his heart yearning to just put his arm around the older man and let him cuddle against him. But he couldn’t do that. He couldn’t scare Beomgyu away with his conflicted emotions.
As Beomgyu entered the last few pages, Taehyun suddenly remembered something, and he tried to snatch the album away.
“I am not done!” Beomgyu exclaimed, smacking Taehyun’s hand away.
“They are just repetitive pictures of the same place, give it back.” Taehyun demanded, trying once again to grab the album.
“Taehyun…fuck off.” Beomgyu yelled as he tried to pull away but losing as Taehyun managed to take the album away.
“Seriously, I don’t want to bore you.” Taehyun announced before walking back home with the album safely in his hands.
Beomgyu sank back into the couch, a frown on his face, wondering just what Taehyun was hiding.
“Uhm…do you want tea?” Taehyun asked as he came back.
Beomgyu shook his head, his mouth still turned into a pout.
“It really was nothing, Beomgyu.” Taehyun sighed.
“If it was nothing, then why didn’t you let me see them?” Beomgyu asked.
Taehyun didn’t answer, as he directed his stare to the wall behind Beomgyu when the older man let out a gasp.
“Oh my gosh, do you have nudes in there?”
Taehyun spluttered on air, his eyes watering as he choked, “What? Beomgyu! No.” He exclaimed, “I just didn’t want to.”
Beomgyu let the topic drop, as folded his arms in front of him.
“Okay…fine.” He said as he got up from the couch, “Anyways, I have to go… have to wake up early tomorrow as I might be getting my results from the project and want to have an early night.”
Taehyun nodded his head, as he took a step closer to Beomgyu. There was a stray curl sticking up and Taehyun wanted to reach out and tuck it gently behind the older man’s ears, but he clenched his fist, trying to restrain himself.
“Let me know how it goes, okay?” Taehyun said softly.
Beomgyu smiled as he nodded, starting his walk back to the door.
“And Beomgyu?”
Beomgyu turned around, staring curiously at Taehyun.
“Whatever the outcome is, just don’t be hard on yourself okay and know that you worked hard and did a good job.” Taehyun adviced.
Beomgyu could feel his heart soaring up and felt an instant source of relief and comfort wash upon him at that.
“Taehyun…” Beomgyu exhaled softly as he caught the other man’s eyes. “Thank you.”
As Beomgyu turned around to leave, he was stopped by a cat stepping into the doorway.
“Oh god, Taehyun help me.” Beomgyu yelped. “I think she is going to kill me.”
“You are so dramatic, Gyu.” Taehyun snickered but he made his way towards Beomgyu to rescue him.
At that moment, Hobak snuggled against Beomgyu’s leg, rubbing her face against his pants, and mewling softly.
Beomgyu stared at Hobak in surprise before looking up at Taehyun, his eyes wide. Taehyun looked as surprised as him too, blinking awkwardly once again as he stared at his cat being friendly with someone other than him.
“Well well well. Looks like someone might secretely be a cat person after all.” Taehyun whistled in amazement.
Beomgyu laughed, his eyes crinkling up and the sound seeming like music to Taehyun’s ears.
“Maybe I am a likeable person in the end.” He said teasingly before his eyes softened as he locked gazes with Taehyun. “Goodnight Taehyun.”
Taehyun watched as Beomgyu bent down, patting Hobak softly and cooing at her before whispering a gentle goodnight to her as well. “I know I shouldn’t be picking favourites, but you might be my favourite.” Beomgyu whispered before getting up and proceeding through the door.
“Come over whenever you feel like it by the way…” Beomgyu said, pausing for a moment as he thought about what he wanted to say before continuing, “You are a good company and friend.”
“Sure…you go sleep well, Gyu.” Taehyun said as he walked to where Beomgyu was standing by the door.
He could count Beomgyu’s long eyelashes as the man peeked at him, and his eyes lingered on the older’s lips, the urge to just lean down and kiss them so strong. He wondered if Beomgyu was thinking about the last time they kissed, as Taehyun could notice a faint red tint on the architect’s cheeks.
What were they at this point? Taehyun wondered, as he tried to ignore the searing pain in his heart.
After what seemed like a long minute, Beomgyu took a step back, clearing his throat as he made his way to his flat.
“See you then, Taehyun.”
Taehyun raised his hand up, waving before shutting the door. He saw Hobak staring at the door, the squeaky fish toy under her paw and he bent down, scratching the cat’s ear.
“You miss him already?” Taehyun sighed softly as he continued stroking Hobak, “You aren’t the only one then.”
