Though I was not seen, I was there.
I was not noticed.
But, I was there,
Left to watch from the bleachers while the room around me
Danced through the lies as if it were a flower field.
She saw me,
She felt me.
Yet, she did not spare me acknowledgment.
She turned her love to the lies,
As the truth plucked at me like feeding birds.
My silence was all I could offer to the room,
From my place in the corner.
My reeling anger spilled over inside of me,
Like a tipped-over pot of boiling water.
Inside I was burning,
Teeth clamped together like a cage,
My lips glued to one another like an oyster holding onto its precious pearl.
No one saw me,
But I was there.

I wrote this at school for an assignment, but I based it on a book I'm currently reading. It's called "The Friends" by Rosa Guy, I love it so much but it's ending soon. I based this on the main character, Phyllisia Cathy. I kinda of relate to it personally though. Anyway, thanks for reading!!
