"Before he died, he told me about where the original crown of laurel was found, that would give me the answers about our parents." I explained, and Sky stood up and started pacing around the room.

It's what she normally does when she thinks. "He couldn't have meant literally where the actual crown was found. He had to be using a code so that Matteo couldn't figure out what you were talking about." Sky said as she was pacing back and forth.

"Okay." I urged her to go on. "Hypothetically speaking, if he had to mean the actual crown, it wouldn't make sense since it might be found somewhere ancient, which really won't give us any answers about our parents." She said, and I nodded as she continued speaking.

"So the crown of laurel he had to be talking about was the meaning of your name. You originate from -" She said, and I finished her sentence. "New York City." I breathed out.

"Sky. You're a genius." I hugged her, and she returned the hug. "It kinda runs in the family." She flipped her hair.

"What are we waiting for?" Sky asked, and I gave her a perplexed look ss to what she was talking about. "What do you mean?" I lowered my voice because the rest of the family was still sleeping.

"Why aren't we going back to New York now?" She asked, and she did have a point. "Come on, Kyla. I need your badass side here. You do want answers about our parents, don't you?" She gave me a cheeky smile.

"I do, but -" My conscience was all over the place. This place is loaded with security cameras, so we would have no chance of escaping if we weren't careful.

"But nothing," Sky chimed in. "We don't have to live by their rules. Let's show them that we're badass American bitches who will not follow their dumbass rules." She finished.

"Okay. If you say so." I stood up from my bed. I was a bit reluctant, but I will not live by Matteo's rules since he showed me that he does not trust me to handle myself alone.

"Start packing your stuff and meet me by the river banks. No one will suspect that we're there." She said right before she walked out of my room.

I tied my hair into a messy ponytail, and I changed my clothes into black sweatpants and a black hoodie. I also started packing my clothes and everything else I came with.

**************************************
I met Sky by the river banks as promised. She had her clothes ready, and she was in Dante's car. She wasn't kidding when she said she was badass.

"Get in." She said, and I got inside the car quickly so no one would see us. "Okay, Skyler, how do you suppose we'll drive on river banks?" I deadpanned, and she just rolled her eyes, and she turned on the ignition.

The ride was bumpy mostly because she was driving on planks, which was the most reckless thing she could've done. She got to a rusty gate, which was locked by with a padlock. There was no security guarding this.

Sky just typed in a bunch of numbers, and the gate opened. "How'd you know which pin code to use?" I asked as i fastened my seatbelt.

"I might've seen Dante do it once or twice while we were sneaking out at night." She kept her eyes on the road. A smile was threatening to appear on her face, but she forced an emotionless facade.

She drove on the road and pulled up by a nearby shop. It was a late night coffee shop, kind of like Starbucks, but the Italian version.

"Okay. I'm going to get us some food since it'll be a long trip from here to Rome." She said right before she got out of the car.

"Okay. Just be safe, okay?" I said to her because knowing Skyler, she gets a little reckless when she is not happy. She nodded and went out of the car.

While waiting for Skyler to come back, I snooped around in Dante's car. Dante was a man of style, seeing from his car's interior design. The seats were a goldish-brownish color, and there everything in here screamed money.
