Y/n actually couldn't believe it. The day had actually come. She watched countless of shows and movies where the lead moves to a whole other city. Gets into spots of trouble. Maybe falls in love. But she never once thought she would be the one to find her life turned upside down. It was an average July day. She'd been rather good that day, she was coming back from the gym having done a pretty hardcore workout (an hour of alternating speeds on the treadmill). When she opened the door her mother was sitting on the couch. Grinning like some sinister cat.

"Oh dear what's she thought of now" Y/n thought to herself. Her mother had the tendency to randomly come up with DIY plans she could execute throughout their home. Some weren't bad but others were hideous

"Y/n honey come sit here" her mother said sweetly patting the seat next to her on the couch

"Here it comes." Y/n thought "Another grand scheme"

"I got a promotion dear." she announced happily yet calmly

Now Y/n didn't think ill of her mother. The contrary, she had great respect for her. She was an incredibly talented woman. A chemist in fact. She was a highly educated woman who worked tirelessly in a lab but also found time to ensure her daughter will one day be just as intelligent as her

"Wow mother that's great I'm so happy." she hugged her mother tightly "This is great, what as though?" Y/n inquired

"Head researcher" her mother announced proudly "however"

"Oh dear"

"Its in another city"

"WHAT!" Y/n exclaimed. She saw it coming but was still shocked her suspicions were correct "I'm gonna cry why me" Y/n whined shoving her face in her mothers lap

"Honey, calm down, I mean now I can get you a new phone AND PC."

Y/n dropped the act immediately

"Ooooh" she said as she quickly raised her head up to meet her mother's eyes

"And I haven't told you the best part yet." she was grinning even more now

"Which is?" Y/n whispers slowly while raising a brow

"It's in Paradis City"

"Oh My God, Cousin Marco!" Y/n sings "We're gonna live with Marco and Aunty Serine" Y/n starts jumping up and down

Aunty Serine was Y/n's mother's younger sister. Those two were basically twins and best friends rolled into one; inherently so were Y/n and Marco. Y/n loved her cousin Marco and didn't get on with anyone else better.

"Well not live with them, but I've been looking at houses and there's a lovely one just down the road from them."

"Marco, cha cha cha!" "Aunty Serine, cha cha cha!" Y/n sang as she shuffled across the living room

"I'm glad to see you don't have any objections with the move, I thought you'd be upset."

Y/n paused "Why? I'd drop everything to be with Marco he's the best."

Authors note: I agree he may have been a minor character but that's the best boy right there

Y/n's mother just chuckled. And soon the move day came along

It was the last week of August and the early hours of the morning. Y/n's mother wanted to get to city during the day so dragged her daughter out of bed at an ungodly hour. Work had also provided them a truck to move all their stuff as well as themselves. So by 4AM Y/n found herself sitting in the front of a truck, her eyes dropping as she listen to some Azealia Banks. The journey was quite quick and after a few stops to refuel Y/n was in front of her new house by lunchtime. She helped her mother unpack with a helping hand from the truck driver. As they were nearly finished two figures were approaching them. A tall young man and a mature woman. Y/n didn't have her glasses on, so was having trouble making them out, she tried squinting but it didn't help
