Author's note: I'm pretty pleased with this one, I quite enjoyed writing when I was little and with some alterations, I think it is quite a good read. Enjoy:

Silver Tears.

Ghosts, some people say, are lost souls, hovering between this life and the next. Only they, have seen death in the flesh, and died to tell the tale. Only they can be truly said, to miss life, because in this world, only they are truly dead.

Most people are incapable to notice them, but they notice us. They see so many things, good and bad.

They are only seen by some things; cats, magical beings, and, of course, weirdos.

Artemis, was a weirdo. Very weird, in fact.

Shunned by her classmates, her parents, everyone.

Except him.

Her best friend, Theo.

After school, she would happily run to their favourite meeting place. The graveyard near her house and he, would be there.

They would play together and she would tell him everything about her day and he, would listen.

Quiet and attentive. Caring and calm. Perfect.

But when she thought about it, she didn't know anything about him. He knew everything about her whole life.

She didn't even know his full name. He had always been just Theo, she couldn't explain why, but it had always been like that.

But slowly, as they grew older, things started to change between them.

Artemis visits became rare and irregular. Theo did sometimes seem a bit annoyed by this, but he tried hard not to show it. Artemis respected him for that.

One day, (Artemis had be with Theo since the morning and they have had so much fun,) Theo stopped her when she wanted to leave.

"Please, stay." he said, and pulled at the hem of her cotton skirt.

She frowned and said, "I can't, it's getting dark." She looked around her anxiously.

Theo laughed, "Is the little kitten afraid of the dark?" he pouted teasingly, then grinned evilly, as she blushed.

Kitten, it was what he had called her ever since he had first found her crying behind a grave.

"As if!"

"Then stay!"
