Being blinded by the sun on a summery morning was a blessing for those who lived in the dim council houses of Burnage. Usually they were faced with the darkened cloud and non-stop rain which perfectly portrayed their moods.
Hearing the chirps of the happy birds outside of the large bedroom window soon woke the young Kat. Scrambling out of her girly, pink sheets, she rushed towards the window and drew back her curtains. To her surprise, most of the rain from the previous days had disappeared as it lift the glistening sun behind. Smiling contemptly, Kat knew that she would have a good day.
Skipping down her creaky stairs, the scent of her mothers distinct pancakes tickled her nose. Following the scent, she was soon met by the blueberry pancakes her mother made her every Saturday morning. She smiled at her mother who had dark bags under her eyes due to the long shifts that she had worked.
"Thank you so much mum, these smell gorgeous!"
Her mother smiled as she watch Kat surprisingly scoff them down in one, along with the fresh orange she had just laid out for her.
"In a rush?" she managed to say.
Her happy, brunette haired daughter looked back at her.
"Look at the weather, I want to go out in it as much as possible!"
Her mother rolled her eyes, taking the used plates to soak them in the sink.
"Yes I do, Katharine. However, there's something you need to help me with first."
Eyes wide open, Kat whined.
"But why?"
Her mother looked at her seriously.
"Theres some new neighbours expected any time now. They have three boys, I want you to introduce yourself to each of them. It'll be scary for them moving with only their mother. They need to know that they have at least one friend."
Kat, being the well mannered girl she was raised to be, accepted and soon ran upstairs to find some dungarees stuffed at the back of her wardrobe. Putting them on, her mother yelled from downstairs.
"They're here! Come downstairs and we will go over to introduce ourselves!"
Kat slowly made her way down to the small hallway, tying her shoelaces. Her and her mother left the house and made their way next door
As her mother knocked quickly on the door. Kat looked around to see moving fans come around the corner
She was nudged by her mother, realising that the door opened and a welcoming Irish woman was introducing herself to her.
"Hiya love, I'm Peggy and these are my three boys Paul he's 18, Noel who is 16 and Liam who is 11.
Kat soon noticed Liam, he was similar in age and she could tell that they just clicked and would be best friends, regardless of their opposite interests, then she smiled at Paul, an older lad but still seemed very talkative and welcoming. Then she saw him. The messy haired, scruffy yet attractive Noel Gallagher. Despite being only 13 and he was 16, her eyes lit up when she saw him, quickly muttering a "hello" and looking away. Noel soon payed no attention and went back inside. Understanding the impossible chance of being friends with him, Kat soon turned her attention to Liam. She introduced herself to him and they soon walking off whilst talking about their interesting. It turned out they actually both had similar passions, except for the fact that Liam couldn't stand music whilst she loved it , even at the age of 13.
That summer went by in a blur, she became better friends with liam every single day that summer, yet never really spoke to Noel at all..
