'Thank you, likewise. I think I could learn a lot from you.'

'Well, I need to get to my meeting so I'll see you later, we have some interviews together'

'See you later, Esteban'

I glanced at my watch and realised that my meeting started in five minutes so I had to get a move on. My conversation with Esteban was interesting and I got to find out a lot about him in the process. He helped me become less nervous about the interviews and I knew that he was always there if I need help. He seems really nice and I'm excited to be his teammate this season.

I made it to the meeting with a minute to spare, my PR manager was not happy with me. I mentally prepared myself for the gruelling hour to come and prayed that it would finish earlier. We had already gone through everything that would be spoken about in this meeting so I didn't understand why we would have to do it again.

I sat down and waited for the misery to begin.

The meeting went on for even longer than I thought it would. It was an hour and a half of being talked at.

If I could survive that then I could survive anything.

I was set free just in time for lunch so I decided to go to one of the food stands outside. I didn't know exactly where each one was so I decided to just explore the paddock.

While I was walking, I had two little girls come up to me asking me to sign their caps, I could see their parents in the distance so I wasn't worried about them being lost.

'Hi guys, what are your guys names?'

'I'm Alex and my little sister is Elle'
The smallest girl was hiding behind her sister.

'And which team do you guys support?'

'We like Ferrari but you're our favourite driver.'

'Well thank you, I'll be sure to do good for you guys!'

'Thank you!' They both said before running back to their parents.

The rest of my walk was uninterrupted and I had found a pizza stall which I decided to get food from. The worker wasn't paying attention at first but clearly noticed me after putting my order in as his eyes widened and he asked for a photo. We took the photo and then he got me my pepperoni pizza, we thanked each other and I started to walk back to the Alpine hospitality while eating.

I put my headphones on and played my music, I had stopped paying attention to the people around me. Unfortunately, this meant that I bumped into someone walking the other way.

'Shit, sorry' I said. We made eye contact and I saw a flash of recognition go through his face and I soon realised why.

'You're Blair Carter'

'And you're Oscar Piastri, um, nice to meet you'

'You too. I should, um, get back to Mclaren.'

'Yeah, me too. To, uhh, Alpine I mean.'

'Yep. Bye.'

'Bye.'

That was awkward.

I started to walk quickly back to Alpine. I glanced over my shoulder to see that Piastri had done the same and started going back to Mclaren.

I thought back to earlier in the hotel gym and realised that it was him who I saw there. The neck training suddenly made sense as well. Let's just hope that I don't see him again in the hotel.

He isn't exactly in my good books after the whole situation with Alpine, I had to stand behind my team. I guess I also didn't understand why he went to Mclaren rather than Alpine. He was Alpine's reserve driver last year, they were going to give him a seat, and they performed better than McLaren last year. Although I guess the situation wasn't handled the best by Alpine.

I guess him going to McLaren left me with a seat at Alpine so I have him to thank for that, but as I said before, this contributed to me feeling like a second choice.

I just have to beat him.
