Maiyah Lee's is a 16 year-old from California. She's a troubled teen and failing all her classes in school. She has a job and a small but loyal and fun friend group. Maiyah is a nice and caring person but her background cuts deep into her.

Her background is a completely different story. Her mother passed away when Maiyah was 9, leaving her and her younger brother with their father.

Their family was a loving and friendly family. The siblings had a great upbringing as their parents both had stable jobs with good income. They had an average house for a family of four and lived in a nice neighbourhood.

Maiyah was diagnosed with depression a few months after her mothers passing. She began self-harming very frequently and was placed into therapy after her school suggested it.

When Maiyah was only 10 and her brother only 2 they lost the house due to her father loosing his job. That was caused by his sudden addiction to Alcohol and Drugs. They moved in with her mothers parents for a while until her father got sober and found another job.

They now live in a small 2 bedroom apartment which is funded by Maiyah. Last year, their father began abusing drugs and alcohol again, only this time it was worse.

He lost his job which forced Maiyah to get a job to pay the bills. Suddenly, their father became very aggressive and abusive towards Maiyah and her younger brother.

One day, a girl that Maiyah looks up to, her favourite artist enters the coffee shop she works at. Flipping her whole world around.
