I watched the tear roll down her cheek as I plunged the knife deeper into her heart. I felt her soul slowly slipping from this earth, further and further from mine. The agony, betrayal and sadness I saw in her eyes as she looked at me. Her arms slowly started to loosen from around my neck yet my gasp around her waist only tightened.

"Na-nadia?" She strangled out as she started going limp.

I didn't answer her. Instead I slowly brought her to the ground, my left hand supporting her neck and my right left limp on my thigh. The agonizing stare as she looked into my eyes searching for any answers to why I betrayed her.

"W-why?" She asked as I strain to hold an unwavering composure.

"W-we welcomed you to o-our home" she struggled to rasp out.

I couldn't hold the tear from falling as thousands flooded from her diamond eyes.

"You're my best friend, my sister!"

Her hand reached up to me cheek as a lonely tear fell; my hand meeting hers. My soft midnight blue hair falling lightly around my small face.

"Yo-you lied to us, to me?!" The confusion and pain laced her words and her soft Spanish British accent broke me.

"You were the one-"
"I Had to, Nixey!" I cut her off, shutting my eyes to keep the tears from falling.

"You were the Scottish warrior all along." She said, less of a question and more of a conclusion.

"Nixey, I'm sorry!" I cry out,
"And I know in the end nothing I say will change the fact that I'm the one at the other end of the dagger!"

"Why?" She quietly asks,

"Because that's my job. I get the name, location, and supplies, and all further questions are to the wind."

"You were my best friend, Nadia" her eyes were pained but behind that i could see the layer of love she still held for me.

"I changed after meeting you!" I cry out,

"I love you, Nadia."

"Nixey, no please-" I begin but before I can say I loved her too the light in her beautiful eyes, was gone and I was left there on the castle floor as a tsunami of dread, regret, pain and haunting memories wash over me.

There lay my best friend, dead in my arms to my own hands; her blood soaked into my soul. If only I hadn't accepted this job over 2 years ago and I had walked away. Maybe she would still be alive...

I find myself receiving a new mission, one further away than usual. It was a "simple" mission as Nolan put it.

"Simple for a well trained assassin." He said, his piercing green eyes held a hint of sas as he spoke.
A bit of blond hair was visible from under his cloak but the rest was masked.

"How much is it worth?" I asked getting straight to the point.

"Starting payment of 12,000 pents then the reward for completion is 16,000 pents."

"Make the reward 20,000 and then we'll talk." I say.

"This job is across borders. I run higher for cross-boarder jobs."

"18,000 pents, do we have a deal?" He sticks his hand out to ceal it but I don't take it.

"Consider it done."

Without another word he passes me a sack including the starting payment and we part ways.
