1 | A day plundered.

Start from the beginning

"I took care of everything. Cats're all fine, just cranky." Bee added, before she noticed a wrinkle growing on the bridge of Howell's nose.

"Oh! Your first wrinkle! How distinguished. You look so wise and tired." Bee says nonchalantly, before being handed a pink paper, which catches half of Bee's interest.

"... What's this, some sage, weathered, old people advice?" Bee asks, reading the note carefully before her smile fades to realization and disappointment.

"Oh..." Bee says softly after Howell walks back into his workspace, whistling.

You can't help but feel a bit puzzled, and tempted to ask Bee what the matter is. But you just stay silent for now.

You glance back at Deckard, and spot a short, old man approaching him, seemingly ashamed.

Deckard looks down at the man.

"... I'm sorry for asking you to bake." The old man says apologetically, before Deckard replies with a mildly nervous smile.

"It's okay."

The old man continues. "Just-.. You're so good at cooking, I thought—"

"Well, you thought wrong, Budday!" Bee interrupts him, chasing him away with a rolled up newspaper in her hand, causing the man to exclaim in fear while running out of the café. You pull a slight scowl of confusion while watching them.

"Ahh, what a scary young old woman!" The old man says as he runs out the door. This makes you even more confused than you should be, but you just hold back any questions that might slip out.

"Cooking is different from baking!" Deckard hollers. You approach Bee and Deckard from behind, glancing at the old man outside.

You even think to yourself, "Isn't baking like... a smaller version of cooking, or is that just my opinion..?"

The old man waves to Deckard while speaking once more.

"Follow your dreams! You can become the greatest cook on this islaaand...!" His voice fades.

"... He knows so much about you." Bee comments. You so happen to find that a little conflicting. Why would some random old person know so much about you, when they never initially met you-?

"Yeah. I think it's nice." Deckard replies, before the sprinkler suddenly turns on and gets you three wet.

You take a couple steps back to momentarily process what even happened. You spot multiple cats at the window, supposedly avoiding the sprinkler.

Bee sits down at one of the tables, not really caring about getting wet.

"So you're baking again! That's good." Bee says in a surprised tone.

"... Only 'cause that old guy asked me to. And-... And he's so.. little. It— It's our thing, I guess." Deckard says as he sits down at the same table across from Bee.

"... Are you still thinking about culinary school?" Bee asked, which caused you to look at them over your shoulder, and briefly eavesdrop.

"Cooking Prince Academy? No. ... It's way off the island. Anyway, they're not gonna certify me if I can't bake. It-.. It.. it's just a fancy title, I guess.." Deckard nearly stumbles upon his words.

You hear a lot of the cats meowing and protesting about the water dripping onto them, but you keep your gaze on the two as they speak.

"I told Howell what happened." Bee suddenly announced, which made Deckard mildly worried.

"Uh-oh. Am I in trouble?" He asks with a worried expression.

"Aw, you're fine." Bee chuckles softly, reassuring him.

Deckard's expression changes to a surprised one. "Hah-! Y'know, any other place, I'd be fired for setting the kitchen on fire."

Bee chuckles nervously. "Yeah... gotta- uh.. fight fire with.. fire." She said searchingly while staring down at the table. You got mildly confused.

"Actually- I don't think anyone's ever been fired from here." Deckard said in realization, which made Bee make an uncertain "mm" noise as a result.

Deckard continues. "The cats get too attached." Bee grumbles under her pursed lips while pulling a slight scowl, before picking up one of her boots that have sharp pieces of glass all over it. You don't even know how that happened.

Bee pours all the water out of it, before putting it back down and pushing her foot back into it. She then grabs her umbrella as if about to leave early.

You suddenly approach Bee and Deckard.

"Oh. You're not working 'till close?" He asks as he picks up one of the other cats that's soaking wet.

"I'll- I'll see you later, then. Say 'bye-bye', Mayor Grandma." He says as he raises Mayor Grandma's paw to wave to Bee.

Bee has a slightly somber look on her face as she gently grabs Mayor Grandma's paw and leans in towards her. "... Goodbye, Mayor Grandma."

Mayor Grandma suddenly shoves her paw in Bee's mouth as a potential response, causing you to stifle back your laughter and look elsewhere. Deckard glances at you.

Bee glares at Mayor Grandma while standing up straight.

"I see Mayor Grandma has been hanging out with Cha—" She gets interrupted by Charles shoving his paw into her mouth, and placing the other over Mayor Grandma's mouth. You didn't know where they even learned this from, but you find it a bit funny.

The sprinkler finally stops.

Bee spits out a bit of fur, before walking away and closing her umbrella.

Bee waves to you and Deckard.

"Goodbye... Deckard, Reader." She sounds a little disappointed as she opens the door.

"Goodbyeee.. foreverrr..." Bee says in a droning tone, before it suddenly starts raining, along with some thunder.

Bee looks back at her note, which says, "Bee, you are fired. I would scream, but I don't want anymore mouth wrinkles." It has a weirdly drawn picture of Howell with an angry expression, with a sign that says "<3 Howell". (I can't install fonts.)

A raindrop falls on the corner of the right eye, causing the entire face to become contorted and soaked.

You and Deckard stare at Bee as she somberly walks out of the café. You're most likely confused about why she seemed so balked.

(I'm gonna prob stop it right here bc I feel that this chapter is almost too long, and I barely have enough time to finish it bc of school 💀)

(I'm not really that great at writing stories, but idk- I just so happened to try teaching myself how to write better stories and novels.)
