One of my first memories is getting hit by a car.
Solid start to life, really - I mean, it'd make a killer hook if I wrote an autobiography. That said, I guess it's kinda strange I don't remember anything before I was 4? If I was the pessimistic type, I'd probably wonder about trauma, but honestly I think I was just a late bloomer in terms of the whole sentience thing.
What was I talking about?
Right.
Car. Child. Blam.
So, I lived, in case you were wondering. As much as my brother might like to joke that it gave me some kind of head trauma, the car and I came out of it pretty unharmed.
More than could be said of the ice-cream I'd dropped. Now that was the true tragedy of the whole situation. Imagine watching your infant child get bodied by a speeding Peugeot, hearing hysterical tears and sprinting over, assuming the worst-!
...only for them to be completely physically unharmed (yet brutally, mortally wounded by the loss of their frozen delicacy).
Yeah, that was my little origin story. Quirk manifestation - woohoo!
Actually, that didn't explain a whole lot at all, really (except my trauma of waffle cones).
Let me start again.
Hi.
I'm Eikyo.
My quirk is Absorbtion-Emission.
I can absorb energy, store it in my body, and release it at will. Sounds overpowered as hell, I know - I mean, it kinda is? It definitely has its limitation, though, don't worry! This isn't some Mary Sue "I am almighty, fear my wrath, raaaahh" story about some edgelord kid with more trauma than personality (no shade).
(OK maybe a little shade).
I can only absorb so much, and even as I do, I feel the repercussions like crazy. I mean, the human body just is not meant to store the impact of getting hit by a semi. Or the light from the sun after sitting outside in 30°C for 5 hours. Or the heat from the sun after sitting outside in 30°C for 5 hours.
Returning to the point, that energy's gotta release at some point, and the more I store, the harder it is to keep it all in. Hence, you wouldn't want to high five me if I just got lit on fire. Not that I'm frequently lit on fire! Currently.
Overall, my quirk has made life pretty easy going. I don't have to worry about being jostled in a crowd, or randomly punched, because the kinetic energy just gets fwipped right on in there for me to deal with later. I'm rarely cold, since I can just suck in the heat from a room towards me like a magnet.
Oh, and I'm crazy good in a fight.
My form isn't all there, and I still haven't quite figured out how throwing a punch actually works, but boy can I take a hit. That, alongside my outstanding self-confidence, made me pretty much immune to bullying in middle school, which is honestly the best start in life you could ask for. Pre-teens can be so mean...
But really, the best part about my quirk is how sick it would be for hero work. Can you imagine? If I put in the work, I could soar through the charts - quirk versatility like this is a real rarity! And I mean, hey, if a Washing Machine can hold a place on the rankings every year, imagine what a kid with abilities like mine could do (no hate to Wash though, bro set the standard for crime fighting kitchen appliances and he set it high).
Me and my brother have been training to get into a huge hero school since we were tiny, and now it's actually getting close to time for applications. For the past few years, the dream has been Shiketsu, but after some... complicated... family issues, we've moved a helluva distance away from it. I can handle a long commute, but not that long, y'know?
But it's no biggy, really. I mean, our Plan A for heroics may have been bloodily stripped from our desperate grasps, BUT! Now, we're actually close enough to be able to throw ourselves into the other big pond on the creek - UA Academy.
And now we're close to exam season, it's about time my story really starts.
