Chp.1/first encounter

Start from the beginning

I get myself ready to go into town. I put on a long coat with a hood. Now some may say it's easy to simply walk out of the front doors of a castle, but I assure you, it's way harder than you think, so I do what any princess would do to escape quietly. I tip-toe to the back doors where the chefs cook our dinner. I can almost feel the satisfaction of successfully leaving this prison. That is until one of the bodyguards stops me "Princess?" Roland questions "Uh, yes Roland?" my body turns slowly to face him "Are you supposed to be leaving? Do the king and que- Please don't say anything, this is the last chance I'm going to get to actually do something on my own" I practically beg him. He looks at me and then sighs "I don't know what you are talking about?" I lift an eyebrow in confusion "Because I never saw you" He winks at me and turns around to continue watching the castle.

I can't help but smile at the fact he is disobeying my parents just to help me.
I go to the stables to get Buttercup out of her pen. I reach the barn and there she is. Her mane is silky white along with the rest of her body. I untie her, put on her saddle and get ready to ride her into town. I lightly graze her face just so she knows I mean no harm. I jump on her and pull on the reins to signal her to take off.  As I ride in the wind I can't help but soak up the sun and the smell of the freshly bloomed flowers. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get this once I am married, so for now I'm going to enjoy it.

My horse and I made it into town within twenty minutes. I hopped off the saddle and walked her to a post where horses could be tied. I walked around the market with full intentions of spending however long I could until my parents came to look for me. Every kid is jumping around while the mother and father share their affection for each other. I smile in awe, why can't life simply be like this for royals?

I keep walking no matter what my heart may feel at this moment. As I continue to walk I feel a cold gaze on my body, but it's not a familiar gaze. I start making my walk into a quick jog, but before I know it the man from behind me has a cold harsh grip on my arm. His breath reeks of alcohol and demand. "If you want to make it out of this place I suggest you do as I say" the man whispered in my ear viciously.

I do as he says afraid of death occurring too soon for me. He pulls me to a place where no one could see or hear me. This was it, this is where I die. "Give me all of what you have," the cruel stranger said as he held a knife up to my neck "I don't have anything valuable" I wagered hoping he would leave me alone "I know who you are, princess, so I suggest you empty your pockets or else- or else what" a different unheard voice came from behind me.

"Don't touch this young lady" the deep voice called out. The man holding me against my will pushed me aside making my body hit the ground. I turned to look at what my hero might look like, and OH MY GO-.

All I could see was his eye, the rest was covered by a black masquerade mask, but oh, his eyes could turn anyone to stone if you stared too long, but oh how I dared to challenge that. The bad guy took a swing at the green-eyed man, but he dodged it and immediately gave the ogar a left hook to the jaw, and with surprise, he was knocked to the ground. No movement. I brought my hand up to my mouth in shock, and as my face turned to look up into the eyes of my savior it appeared he was already two steps ahead of me.

He slowly walked towards me, everything in my body told me to get up and run, fight, but I couldn't. He reached his hand to help me up, but I shouldn't. He might be a murderer, or maybe he wants to kidnap me, yet I take the risk to take his hand. He hoists me up, and I take a look at this man's hands. Veiny.

I realize that I'm holding my breath. "Thank you" I Breathe out apologetically and reach his eyes. They are green, but not forest green, nor money green, but emerald green.

"Maybe you should stay at your royal palace" he scoffs, which takes me back a step.

"I'm sorry, excuse me, but I did nothing wrong here." he grins at me, but there isn't one bit of sweetness from the shape of his mouth

"Touche. Although you didn't have any control of the man's actions it didn't mean you couldn't at least prevent it" he smarts off

"And exactly how was I supposed to do that? Tell him to stop nicely"

the mystery man laughs but nothing I spoke was humorous, at least not to me

"No, but you could've stayed on your pampered throne," he says with a mouth full of hatred

"You have no idea what actually happens in castles and the lives princesses and princes are expected to live by their parents and peers" frustration left my voice, who even was this guy to tell me what I should've done.

"Oh, and you think I have no idea what it's like," he says as he gets closer to my lips

"Have a good day princess" the green-eyed stranger whispered gently in my ear leaving me speechless, and before I could get anything out he was gone. I've never seen this man, who must he be?
