I didn't have friends like you
That stood by you
That cried for you
That gave you goodbyes
I walked with others
And was quickly left behind
You picked me up
And I was dragged behind
I could never let go
No matter the pain
From being dragged in the dirt
You were my lifeline
No matter how much it hurt
But you kept speeding up
I had trouble hanging on
The feeling of falling kept my grasp right
But then you cut me off
I felt myself dying
In the isolation and emptiness
But then I caught my feet
I felt the ground I was dragged across
Never willing to stand
Never thinking I could on my own
At first I crawled after you
Then one day I chose to walk away
For once I felt free
The darkness embraced me
Your warmth was fading
And then it was gone
Soon I began to shiver
I looked for warmth but found none
I jumped into a fire
It burned me to my core
I miss the warmth
I'm scared of the pain
May the light embrace me
But I will miss the comfort of the dark
