Another soft sigh came from you, gently shaking your head with a small smile appeared. Osamu thought the book you read had made you feel like that. However, your heart said otherwise.
Can a day like this... never ends?

What could be worse other than just taking a nice stroll on a normal day? Maru just wanted to take things off her mind after a while, something related to her home. She hated being there, she hated being at home. Not once she feel happy going back home. Not once did her parents greet her "welcome home". All her parents did was just fight, money, fight, money.
What's the point?
'If you hate it so bad, why don't you just divorce?'
That's what Maru wanted to say to both of her parents, making it as a remark just to call them off. She's tired of hearing them screaming at each other every night. Not to mention, throwing and punching stuff.
Maru was a pretty born daughter. She's perfect in her ways but you never know what her real life is. Her true color was out of sight. Not even a single teardrop whenever she heard them fight. Why? Because it's idle. Why would she bawl if all her parents cared about was just money, money, and what else? Money.
A sigh, she wished her brother was there with her. That darn university had kept him busy with projects. A lot of situations Maru would think of when she's alone. Although it's too good to be true.
Maru stopped her tracks, something- no, someone caught her attention. Her fists clenched at the sight she's seeing. The back of Osamu hugging you from behind, the figure of you relaxed as you read your book and him teasing you from time to time.
Why?
Why won't God let her be in her peace of mind?
Why won't the world just be fair to her?
Just... why?
Not even once, as her own being never realized she didn't give herself a chance. She wanted to be selfish, however, things always hit her first. She wanted a peaceful life, but what did she do wrong? She wanted to end her life, but will it be the same as ever in another life and will she have the urge to do so?
Maru feels uncomfortable. Almost her whole body shakes like an earthquake. Her lips quivered, biting her inner cheeks which caused her to taste the blood. Head heats up as if a volcano became active and started to erupt. Her eyesight shows a hint of black fade from every corner. Her breathing went uncontrollably fast. The world seemed to collapse, she almost fainted. That's what she meant by "feels uncomfortable".
"Hello." Maru was startled, a 4"3 little boy stood beside her while handing out a packet of ice cream in his right hand. "Would you want one? It's such a hot day isn't it."
"U-uh..." Maru hesitated.
Without waiting for Maru to accept the ice cream, the boy opens up her palm and placed the cold yet solid ice cream. The cold impact sent electric shock goosebumps which makes her snap out.
"You're sweating and you have been staring at the ice cream truck for ages." The boy stated.
Ice cream truck? Oh... the reflection shows the ice cream truck behind her. That's not what she was staring at for ages, but due to the hot day, it's hard to look at whatever is across the wide window mirror from far away. Understandable.
"T-thank you... how much is this?"
"For free."
"Then I don't want it. I won't accept things for free-"
"Just take it, miss. My dad told me if someone really needs help, just do it for free."
Maru's heart ached. First time in her life ever seen someone- more specifically a young boy, with beaming in his eyes and an act of kindness, towards Maru. Why out of everyone she loves, it always has to be a stranger that gives her a different impression?
"I-I... I don't know what to say..." Maru mumbled, her bangs hanging low covering her teary eyes.
"No worries, you don't have to say anything in return. But I count that as thank you." The boy turned around. "By the way, miss, you are the first person I helped for free."
"Huh?" The boy walks away right when Maru lifted her head up.
So this is how it feels to be helped by a total stranger. Wow, even a stranger who doesn't really know what happened simply knows there's something wrong. Concerning, to be exact. The boy thought she was sick and in need of a taste of something icy. Truth to be told, the boy misunderstood. But she's thankful that he helped.
She forgot about everything and only focused on the boy's kindness. His cute tiny hands of his took her hand just instantly gives her the warmth. Her frown twisted into a cheeky smile; now that's her real smile.

Author-chan: Somehow the way I described Maru towards the boy sounded creepy as heck... But everybody, it's NOT in that way.
Maru: I only describe it as how this is my first time felt someone cared about me, not my friends nor my parents, but a total stranger. So that's how I describe him, someone as kind as him. Once again, NOT in a creepy way.
