Kotas POV.

It was around two AM. The storm was raging on outside, the wind howling and the rain beating on the roof. Making it sound like my wife's entire track team was running laps ontop of our house. Kathleen was fast asleep beside me, and my son, Bling, was standing at my bedside, sniffling and shaking. "Why are you up so late, baby?" I asked, sitting up. "The storm" he whispered, wiping his nose with his sleeve.

He was holding his favorite stuffed unicorn, his unicorn hood barely on his head while he stared at me, shaking like a leaf. "There's nothing to be afraid of" I said gently, but he didn't seem comforted. "Can I sleep with you and mommy?" Bling asked, looking up at me with big, hopeful eyes. I groaned inwardly. Kathleen already takes up a good 75% of the bed as is, but I couldn't just say no.

I got up and lifted the covers, Bling hurriedly crawling into bed beside his mother, curling up into a little ball. I got in beside him, already feeling myself slipping off of the bed. He was still shaking and sniffling, but I held him close, trying to offer some form of comfort. "It's ok, Bling, nothing can hurt you as long as I'm here" Slowly, he started to calm down, and he fell asleep curled up between me and Kathleen. I stayed awake for a bit longer, listening to the sounds of the storm outside. Just as I was about to drift off, I found myself in the floor.

I rubbed the back of my head, which hit the wooden floor with a loud thud. I stood up, to my surprise, Bling and Kathleen were still asleep. Bling was sprawled out Horizontally. I rolled my eyes and grabbed my pillow. Looks like I'm sleeping on the couch.
