Chapter 3

Akeem: grandson.

[FEZ steps forward at his name, kneeling in a similar fashion to the figure in black beside him. The presence of his grandfather is rare and usually indicates some kind of test, so FEZ is nervous though it shows only by the tenseness of his shoulders, which could easily be dismissed as being paranoid of his surroundings.]

Akeem: rise. [ FEZ does so, but does not meet his grandfathers eyes.] This is a member of our guard. [he indicates to the kneeling figure] She was instructed to scout the fortress by the north and eliminate any sign of possible entry. She failed. I ask you, my heir, what should be done to her.

[FEZ knows exactly what his grandfather is going to do to her. Knows the consequences for failing having felt it personally. Though she is not a necessary asset. Her punishment will be much more permanent. He forces the words out, despite them making him feel sick.]

Fayez: execution

Gasps sound through the hall, all sneaking looks at the older version of the boy on the screen. How could someone so cold and callously talk of killing someone for a mistake? Fez resolutely ignored the stares.

[ a satisfied smile crossed AKEEMS face at his grandsons, no his weapons, words.]

Akeem: see to it then, grandson.

[ FEZ visibly startles at this, making eye contact with the Demon, an act that only causes the man's smile to widen in a display of cruelty.]

Fayez: Grandfather?

Akeem: you heard me boy. Kill them, prove you're worthy of being my heir.

[FAYEZ stands silently, staring at his grandfather horrified. He looks to his father, but EHSAN stares forward, visibly tense and ready to protest. AKEEM stares his son down. After an intense stare down, EHSAN looks away first and AKEEM smirks victoriously. He looks back to his grandson, who stares at the kneeling figure in sympathy. AKEEM breaths a heavy sigh of disappointment which causes FAYEZ to look over to him, his eyes hard and unwavering. The two have a conversation with their eyes and AKEEM then waves his hand to a nearby guard.]

Akeem: very well.

[camera zooms in on FAYEZ face. Off screen the sound of a sword being swung down is heard.]

"Oh Merlin!"

[ FAYEZs expression doesn't change and he continues to stare forward resolutely. He flinched when the sword is brought down.]

Akeem: 30, I should think, for disobeying direct orders.

Sirius looks at the young McKinnon in understanding. He knows what that means, whilst others speculate what the cruel Demon could have in store. Sirius is sure that he shares scars with the boy, and as he looks to his brother, he know by the expression on his face that he does too.

[ lightening flash engulfs the screen and camera pans to see Harry who is now 10 years old, still sleeping. Then the light turns on outside his room.]

Petunia: Up! Get up! [She knocks on his closet door repeatedly] Now! [Smacks door of closet and walks into the living room]
