welcome to MISTY, a messaging application used by millions of teens around the world. the app was created in 2011 as a way for users to meet people with their interests. the app has grown to be very successful over the last decade or so, with thousands of teens installing MISTY every day. the app was already popular as-is, but with the sudden shutdown of the world in 2020, the app has grown to become one of the few main uses of social media.
unfortunately, the amount of popularity would prove to be too much for the site, causing it to malfunction. 30 random users would wake up one day to find that all of their chat rooms and direct messages were deleted from their lists. worst of all, none of them would be able to find and rejoin them, let alone a public chat room. the staff members of MISTY would make a public announcement about the issue the following day, labeling the issue as a glitch that recognized these users as an unknown variable. in the same announcement, the staff informed their users that anyone affected that had or will file a complaint will be added into a temporary private chat room until the bug is fixed, which may or may not take a while. at around 11 a.m. that day, the teens would be added into the private chat room, each user having little to no knowledge of the others. will these users break the ice in the limited time they have? will they assist in attempting to free themselves from their "prison"?
or will the chat room be left as a ghost town?
