Jayne, who had a lengthy catchup with Ella about absolutely everything that had happened since they had last seen each other, which was June the year before for Bonnaroo, and she had gotten whiplash at the situation with Alex and how much it had changed.

Due to Jayne being a nurse, every time they had been able to fit in a chat in their schedules it hadn't been long enough to talk about everything. Now, when she heard that Ella was coming home unexpectedly, she asked for a day off at work to be able to see her best friend.

Jayne was there when Ella got a call from Alex, and she'd had to fight her so she wouldn't take her phone from her hand to have a chat with the singer she claimed she needed to have.

"Just to warn him of a few things." Jayne had whispered and Ella frantically shook her head with wide eyes as she tried to greet him through the phone.

"Is everything okay? Are you busy?" Alex asked as he heard shuffling on her side of the call, along with some gasps.

"Yes, not busy, just–" Ella's screech cut her sentence off and Alex frowned, only a little worried since he knew she was at her childhood house.

"Hello!" He heard a stranger voice say and he was hesitant on who it was.

He guessed it could be her sister, "Lily?"

But he wasn't lucky in his guess. "Jayne, actually. Nice to meet you through the phone." Jayne proceeded to turn the speaker on so Ella could hear but she was still keeping it away from her.

"Oh, hello." The British man said, "Sorry, I've only really heard about Lily and Ella's mom. It's nice to meet you."

There was silence before Ella yelled, "Ow, bitch!"

Satisfied with the smack she'd given Ella on her arm, Jayne stated nonchalantly, "Now that's rude, considering I've known this ungrateful bitch since she was shitting herself at kindergarten."

Alex laughed wholeheartedly at the gasp Ella let out and her, "Jayne! For fucks sake!"

"That is rude, Ella." The singer sided with her best friend just to tease her.

"Thank you." Jayne glared at Ella with a smirk before opening her mouth to continue, and Ella thought the worst was going to happen but her soul returned to her body when all Jayne added was, "Thank you for taking care of my Ellie after what that asshole did all that to her. I was planning a trip to LA in my mind just to handle him twenty minutes ago when she told me everything."

"No thank yous needed for that, I'm still regretting not fully battering him when I had the chance." He admitted which made Ella gasp.

"Alexander! No, you aren't!" She fought as if that would change his mind.

He laughed at her attempts, "I am, Eleanor."

Ella could see his smirk in the forefront of her mind and she felt her cheeks warming up.

Jayne hummed then, satisfied with the information and she nodded looking at Ella, "I like this one."

Ella wanted to die so she just went and snatched the phone from her hand to stop her best friend from saying anything else. "Okay. Right. That's enough from you, you menace." She pointed at the nurse, who only smirked back at her, "Alex?"

He had filled with pride at hearing someone in Ella's life approving of him that his smile was stuck on his face, "Yes darling?"

Jayne raised an eyebrow at Ella and she went bright red under her gaze, so she turned slightly to ignore her, "Thank you for calling, but mind if I call you later?"

"'Course not. Ring me up when you're free. Sorry for interrupting." He apologized quickly which made her coo internally.

"Don't worry, Al. I'll call you before going to bed okay?"

"Amazing darling. Talk to you later." He was missing her so their daily calls when she was away were helping him cope a little bit better. "Bye Jayne!"

"Bye Alex!" Was heard from both of them and then the line died.

Ella had missed telling him the failed scolding she gave Jayne afterwards, which had ended with both of them laughing until they couldn't breath and hugging each other tight, refusing to let go when it was time for Jayne to leave.

Ella was coming back in June for Bonnaroo though, so all of the goodbyes after the week was up hurt a little less.

That's what she was explaining to Alex who had just picked her up from the airport and was taking her home.

"I've been going to Bonnaroo with my family since I was a kid, and then with just my friends when we were old enough to get in without our parents having to go with us. So, ever since I moved out, I've been going back religiously to attend with my family and friends."

Alex took a quick glance at her, "That's cool. It's like us going to Leeds fest with all our mates when we were allowed in. We'd camp all weekend, crammed up in small tents but it was the best time of the year every time."

"Festivals are fucking amazing, aren't they?" She sighed, with a smile on her face.

"They are." He agreed without a second thought.

"I hope you book Bonnaroo at least once," Ella wished out loud, "Seeing you play in my hometown would be fucking incredible."

"I'll take a mental note of that and pass it to our manager." Alex winked at her, and her smile got impossibly bigger.

"Okay, Mr. Rockstar." She giggled as he kept stealing glances at her with a massive grin.

"Sorry Miss Tennessee, I was just trying to make sure your dream comes true."

"Idiot," She cackled, and he laughed with her. "Do you want to stay over? I'm sure I'll cry myself to sleep tonight if I'm alone, I'll get homesick like always."

He was slightly surprised by her proposition, he would imagine he'd offer those plans to Bre not him but he was glad to see that she wanted to have him beside her for long. He thought then that after everything with her ex, his presence helped her cope and that was the best news to him. Because he felt so much better when he was with her and it was certainly relieving to find out that could be reciprocal.

"Would love to, darling. Should we rent some films on our way to your house?" Alex suggested and by the way she scrunched her nose up at him, he knew that was exactly what she was thinking of doing on a Sunday night.

"You read my mind, Turner."
