Prologue

There was a musky smell to the air. Every step we took was a pain.

"Daphne." Hector rasped as Daphne leaned against him. Every bone in her body was exhausted and she felt as if she could curl up in a ball, and go through a deep slumber. They had held this off long enough and they both knew what the outcome would be if they did this. Hector and Daphne were going to have to fight .

"Dakie is coming my love. We have no way of beating him. We cannot outrun him. We have to stand our ground and do what we do best." Daphne whispered as her parched throat begged to be dunked with cold, flavorless water. She felt as if all of the life was draining out of her bit by bit.

Hector fell to the ground in a puddled mess of dark maroon blood and grime. Daphne followed suit and rested her head against Hector's chest. Gradually, Hector stood up on shaky legs, as if they were limp noodles. He pulled Daphne to her feet and tightly his head, understanding.The two held hands and unsheathed their swords.

"Camille will be safe. When the time will come she will bear the Crescent. The Sun will approach her and all will be well, in for that moment that is. We have done well Hector, it is time to allow Camille to meet her real life on her own." They grasp each others hands tightly and get into their battle position.

Hector gave Daphne a slight peck on the cheek and began to beckon all of the power within him. Daphne followed suit. After only a matter of seconds both were radiating with dark blue and bright yellow sparks. Their aura was swirling around them and their swords. Hector and Daphne could tell what was coming.

They began to beckon more strength from inside of them not leaving any bit of power in them. Then, suddenly, a black cloak came into view, and Daphne and Hector couldn't halt the tiny gasp that left there mouth as the figure came closer and closer...
