" Thank you, Mama. " I took the suitcase and made my way toward my room. First I pulled out lots of button-up shirts and sweater vests, my favorite type of clothing to wear. Followed by those, I grabbed my boots, overcoats, waistcoats, and last but not least multiple neckties.
I tucked the clothing away, and I then zipped up my suitcase.
" Mom, I finished packing... " I knocked on her door.
Nothing. Complete silence.
A few laughs from downstairs, " Hun! We can go to New York City and take a flight to Japan! It will only be..about 18 hours. Possibly 19. "
Booking flights...I forgot.
A few hours had passed already, it was ' sunset time '.
The sky was an orange-creamy-pink color.
" Dear! Dinners ready! " Mother shouted. I went downstairs slowly, then slid into one of the table chairs. She handed out pasta and bread, I gulped down the food and went back upstairs to sleep, or at least try.
The night.
I snuggled into my pillow, shoving my face into the silky texture.
A night to sleep.

40 days have passed. It was time to move to Yokohama.
I woke up to my mother yelling, it wasn't in an angry way though.
" Edgar! We have to go, put on some comfortable clothes and head out of the door! " Mother rushed.
The flight! I completely forgot!
I quickly put on some clothes, a sweatshirt, and sweatpants.
" You finally woke up, eh? " Father laughed. He turned the key, which automatically made the engine turn on.
" Off to New York City and then a 14-hour Plane Ride! " Mother cheered, I watched as she celebrated the moment.
" Hey Ed, I heard that one of your past friends is gonna be at your new school! Isn't that exciting? "
" Oh, yea. " I barely listened to what Father said, my mind was dozing off. It was as if the nonexistent gears stopped working.
I pulled out a notebook, along with a fountain pen that had been gifted to me a while back by an anonymous person. The starting location was Japan. So it had to be an old friend..but who?
John F. Kennedy International Airport- Packed with tons of people. Father paid for parking and lugged our suitcases from the truck.
" We're gonna get our car shipped to Yokohama, so if you leave anything in there it's fine. " He ruffled my hair, then dragged my suitcase.
" Dad. I can drag my suitcase on my own... "
" Look at our boy! All grown up, he can drag his stuff! " Mother grabbed my cheeks, then stretched them. I laughed slightly.
" Ay ay, quit messing around. The airports gonna be packed, just beware of that Ed. " Father reminded.
I nodded.

" This is your captain speaking, we're scheduled to land in about..10 minutes. Please pack up everything, electronics must be tucked away while landing and all trash should be thrown away. "
I reclined the seat back the slightest bit, the plane was mostly empty. So nobody would be behind me.
" Excuse me, Sir. Do you have any trash? " I looked up from my book,
" Ah..erm, yes. Here you go... " I handed her multiple gum wrappers and an empty cup once filled with tea. She took the trash and left, I went back to my book.

Yokohama, Japan.
After many hours of driving, we got to where Father bought our house. He had to wait a very long time since western houses weren't common in japan, there were barely any. But he managed to find a house and buy it. The process was long, but at least we had somewhere to sleep at night. I've been taking Japanese classes too, they decided it would be better for me to learn Japanese before. I can say, my ability to speak Japanese improved.
" Tomorrow you're gonna start school Edgar, is everything ready? " Mother hurried over to my side. I nodded, pointing to my uniform. Luckily I had been accepted into the school months prior, or else I would be lost on where to go.
" Alright, goodnight sweetie. I'll wake you up extra early so you can get to school on time! "
" Night Mama. "
The door shut. Silence and darkness.
