"Have you spoken to him about it?" I ask.

"No I haven't. I don't want him to feel that he is being replaced."

I shook my head in disapproval.

"Lucas is a smart boy, I know he will understand once he knows that Owen keeps you happy. You should talk to him about it. And if everything settles down, I can babysit Lucas for you. Its been a while."

"Oh, Alana. You're always my saviour. I'll talk to him, lets see where it gets me." She chuckled.

I smiled and returned to the register.

"Alanapoo." I looked up with a scowl on my face. I was greeted by my best friends.

"Fuck off." I hiss.

"Ooh, the nerd knows how to use cuss words." Lily snickered.

"She's learning from Niall, I guess." Kate joined in.

"Why are you'll ganging up on me?" I asked frustrated.

"Our sources tell us you don't have a Prom dress," Ashley said.

"Oh, mom," I whispered.

"And we are here to take you shopping," Kate said.

"I'm working, blind people."

"So what? Take a leave." Lily shrugged.

"No. I can't. Melanie needs help." I said frankly.

"Alana, its just one time!" Ashley whined.

"Alana go." I turned to look at Melanie who had a smile on her face.

"But you need help here," I said.

"No, I don't. I know Prom is important. Your friends are right." She said walking behind me and removing my apron.

I stopped her.

"Don't. I know we are short of workers today." I reasoned.

"Don't make me throw you out." He playfully glared at me.

I sighed and removed the apron.

"You guys win," I said aloud.

They cheered like stupid maniacs and Lily linked her arm with mine, dragging me out of the café.

-----------

Once we got out of my car, the three of them somehow managed to drag me into the mall.

"God guys, it's not a big deal that I don't have a dress as yet," I said as we entered the air-conditioned mall.

"Alana, Prom is just a week away. Don't you get it?" Kate yelled.

I covered my ears.

"You need to calm your tits Kate. Don't yell." Ashley hissed.

"It's not just the dress Alana. The accessories, the heels. God, whatnot." Lily said waving her hands all over.

"Whatever." I huffed as we walked into a boutique.

"What about your dresses? Colours?" I asked.

"Baby blue." Lily chimed.

"Yellow." Ashley smiled.

"Pink." Kate giggled.

"I want something in beige preferably," I said politely.

Ashley pushed open the door of the boutique and dresses were all I could see.

"Woah," I whispered.
