I woke up early to the bright summer sun shining in from the small window above my bed. My little sister, Kylie, was still curled up next to me fast asleep. I slip out of bed slowly, careful not to wake her up, and click the button on the wall next to the bed. The compartment slides open revealing my school uniform.

A shiver ran up my spine as my feet touched the cold tile of the changing room. I quickly threw on the baby blue T-shirt and pants everyone in my section wore, and tiptoed down the stairs. My mother usually made breakfast, but since I was up early I thought it would be a nice surprise.

As the bacon sizzled on the stove, I heard little footsteps slowly descending the spiral staircase. I looked up to see Kylie standing at the kitchen entry way, one hand rubbogn her big tired eyes, the other holding Mr. Fluffy by the foot. Mr. Fluffly was a brown rabbit with big floppy ears and an orange bow tied around his neck. He wasn't real of course, just a stuffed animal, but Kylie still treated him as if he were.

"Hey kitten, what are you doing up?"

"I smelt food." She said, walking over to see what was on the stove. "Mmmm bacon! I love bacon!" She squeaked and hurried to take her seat at the table, almost dropping Mr. Fluffy.

"Can you please set the table for me?"

"Only if you give me extra bacon." She says playfully as she grabs the silverware from the counter.

"Look at my two little helpers." I hear my mother's voice as I start scrambling the eggs.

"Oh I'm sorry mama, did we wake you?" Kylie asked, struggling to reach the plates from on top of the counter.

"No sweetie, I just woke up a little early." Mom said, helping Kyle with the plates. She came over to the counter next to me and started to cut up a potato.

"No mom stop, it's my last day here and I want to do something for you." I took the knife from her and diced the potatoes into little cubes. She smiled at me, her expression a mixture of joy and longing.

My last day here. I'm really going to miss this place. Tomorrow's the day I've been preparing for my whole life. The day I finally graduate and become an official member of society. They will asign me to one of the eitght sections, and I will have to leave this place behind forever. Unless I'm lucky and get to stay, but that rarely happens. It's only happened once in Rendo, the section I live in now.

So far the only thing I'm looking forward to about tomorrow is being able to move in with my O.T.P. Nobody really knows what the word stands for or what it has to do with anything but that's what we've been calling it for hundreds of years. But anyway, we won't be married yet, but we get to live together for a year to get used to each other. Within this year we choose whether we want to stay with our O.T.P or leave, but it is not likely that someone will choose to leave. Luckily me and my O.T.P are already best friends.

When you are born your parents are told who your O.T.P will be. Your O.T.P doesn't have to necessarily live in the same section as you, but luckily mine does. We became best friends way before I was told who my O.T.P would be, so I wasn't surprised when they told us.

When breakfast was over I went upstairs and finished getting ready for class. I quickly brushed my teeth and combed my hair. I went downstairs and gave Kylie a kiss on the cheek before I left. I stopped in front of the door and looked at myself in the small mirror hanging on the wall.

I looked so average. Short, black hair, the same color as everyone else's. Boring gold eyes, the same color as everyone else's. There was nothing different about me what so ever.

I patted down a piece of hair that was sticking up in the back and turned back to the door. As I looked away, I thought I saw something in the reflection of the mirror. I turned back and caught a short glimpse of a girl with blonde hair. That's all I saw before the reflection dissolved back to me. I stood there and stared at the mirror for a moment.

"Are you okay?" I heard my mom say from down the hall. I turned my head to see her stopped at the end of the hall, looking at me confused.

"I'm fine." I say, opening the door. "Bye mom."

"Have a good day." I hear as I close the door behind me.

As I walked to platform 3, the image of that girl stuck in my head. I've never seen anyone like her before. Maybe it was just my imagination, I thought as I sat on the bench and took off my backpack. Yeah I was just seeing things. I placed the backpack on my lap and waited for the lehv to arrive.

A couple minutes later I heard the whistle of the lehv. I stood to put on my backpack, and the lehv slowed as it came to a stop in front of me. I look up, and in the reflection of the window I see that girl again, but this time she doesn't dissapear.

She's short, the top of her head reaches to where my chin would be. Her blonde hair was long and wavy. A single strand fell in her face, and the rest was neatly pulled back into a ponytail. She had fair colored skin and freckles covering her rosie cheeks. Her eyes were an unusual color. Were they... brown? That couldn't be right, people can't have brown eyes.

I waved my hand as if to say hello, and the girl waves back. I look around to see if anyone else can see her, but nobody seems to notice. When I looked back, her face had an expression of alarm. Her lips are moving as if she's trying to tell me something, something important, but I can't understand what she's trying to say.she gives up and just points in the direction the lehv came from. As if on cue the doors open and people start getting on. When I looked back in front of me, the girl had disappeared and I was left staring at my own reflection.
